Job Description

Position Overview

The role of Senior Vice President, Pro Sales is to strategically lead, monitor, guide, and coach people leaders/ sales team to achieve business targets, implement change, improve selling skills (strategic and tactical) and build sustainable customer relationships for Behr’s U.S. outside pro sales team. The ideal leader will possess a transformational mindset to establish a future state vision, analytical capabilities needed to diagnose gaps and formulate strategic solutions, along with a demonstrated ability to establish interpersonal relationships to quickly gain buy-in from the sales team, cross-functional departments, and retail partners. The individual will possess a mindset to drive accountability and consistent execution on short-term performance, long-term goals, and operational compliance with policies and procedures.

Accountabilities include setting and managing sales targets, market penetration, continuous improvement, staffing, talent development, expenses, and profitability. You will establish and cultivate productive partnerships with internal and external customers, assessing and suggesting appropriate products, services, and/or solutions. This role leads and influences at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels of the business to ensure we meet our corporate objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Support team members to maintain an open level of communication with all employees.
  • Develop new business and increase sales in a cost-effective manner through Pro sales representatives, sales programs, deployment of service capabilities, pro marketing, and strategic sales planning processes.
  • Responsible for sales team development, communication and execution of regional and national strategies that align with Long Range Plans (LRP), Annual Operating Plans (AOP) and Strategic Deployment Plans (SDP).
  • Analyze and evaluate business health with the objective of attaining optimal growth & development; tracks progress against targets to improve (TTI) activities for annual SDP. Redirect team to close gaps utilizing continuous improvement processes.
  • Actively participate, lead, advise, or serve on committees, meetings, and cross functional teams (i.e., planning, marketing, finance, continuous improvement events, operations, policy making)
  • Continuously develop knowledge and skills to uphold and articulate the organizational strategy and principles of our company.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization.
  • Develop compelling presentations and effectively tailor and deliver messages to all levels of the organization.
  • Lead the achievement of consistent, profitable sales and market growth through senior level planning and decision making in all U.S. markets, and work with Regional Vice Presidents to adapt to local market conditions.
  • Coach people leaders/ sales team to achieve business targets, implement changes, improve selling skills (strategic and tactical) and build sustainable customer relationships.
  • Convey the Company’s quality vision to team members and customers and support their participation in the Company’s quality improvement effort.


Essential Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 10 years of successful sales experience with at least 5 years of sales leadership experience in contractor wholesale, construction, or the Home Improvement Industry.
  • History of successfully leading large teams at senior levels
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; MBA preferred

  • Knowledgeable of continuous improvement processes.
  • Strong presentation skills, including ability to develop the presentation and present it in a way that engages, inspires, and conveys messages to audiences of varying sizes.
  • Validated record of achievement in a prior sales management position is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a performance history of building positive partnerships while working collaboratively with cross-functional business units and internal and external customers.
  • Thinks operationally and strategically, analyzes issues, uses sound judgment, generates new ideas/goes beyond the status quo.
  • Proficient in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control practices.
  • Influence and motivate others, coach, and develop, foster teamwork, step forward to address difficult issues, provide clear direction, and champion change.
  • Collaborative and trustworthy team builder, exhibiting the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Coatings industry, product, and application knowledge (preferred) or a demonstrated ability to quickly ramp and master similarly complex topics.
  • Track record of organizing and prioritizing work successfully using project management and change management skills.
  • Excellent communication, selling and relationship skills with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Must have analytical, planning, and decision-making skills; and demonstrated ability to use sales data for business decisions.


Other Requirements

  • Systems: Proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce preferred
  • Manage and abide motor vehicle and expense reporting according to company policy.
  • Travel up to 60%, including frequent overnight travel required.


Hiring Range: Hiring Range: $167,800.00 - $263,659.00 with eligibility for short and long-term incentive compensation.
