The Senior Manager, Global Oncology R&D Communication, will supports our Global Oncology R&D Communication Leader in providing world-class support for the Global Oncology R&D team within the Hematologic Malignancies area. You will coordinate the delivery of pipeline and on-market product portfolio support activities for the dynamic and growing Oncology Therapeutic Area (TA) and support the Global Oncology & R&D Communications Leader in the planning and implementation of external communications tactics and stakeholder activation strategies (B-Cell Malignancies and Multiple Myeloma). You will also coordinate with the Global Oncology Communication team and global TA business partners to plan and execute internal communications, support workforce activation to engage, inspire and increase the productivity of the Oncology team and its partners from global, regional and local functions. As a Senior Manager, you will align with R&D partners, Compound Development and Global Commercial teams, regional and local communications partners, supply chain Communications, corporate Global communication and Public Affairs (GCPA) functions to drives strategic TA, R&D, Sector, and Enterprise value. You will also executes and independently leads/contribute to ensuring the R&D communications team delivers business results and strengthens expertise and capabilities of the global GCPA function.


Key Responsibilities


External Communications for Hematology:


  • Aligns with the regional and local businesses (commercial), supply chain, other enterprise/ GCPA functions
  • Acquire and apply knowledge from deep internal and external networks; multi-stakeholder insights; and develop a broad understanding of the business, competitive and industry priorities to strengthen product business and reputation outcomes, support scientific positioning and issue management, and help shape the environment for the TA’s medicines and pipeline
  • Helps fostering business growth and stakeholder trust/advocacy by supporting and implementing effective external global communication strategies (approx. 50% of time)
  • Helps driving business outcomes by identifying and applying key outcome metrics
  • Supports media management with research and the drafting of messages and message maps
  • Supports the implementation of integrated communication activities for Hematology R&D and the global product businesses
  • Develops strong relationships with communication and business leaders and act as trusted enabler and executor of projects to create long-term business value for the TA, R&D, Sector and Enterprise
  • Demonstrates excellence in proactive global monitoring and analysis of product and TA related issues that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation
  • Helps driving meaningful business outcomes for the TA, R&D, Sector and Enterprise, based on robust understanding of the business and reliable project execution
  • Supports key TA communication activities with content development, plan and tactical execution


Internal Communications For Oncology


  • Leads on implementation of workforce activation to engage, inspire and increase the productivity of the Oncology TA, its partners from global, regional and local functions
  • Promotes diversity/equity/inclusion at all times
  • Models and leads with a One Team mindset to unify, collaborate and drive for best Enterprise outcomes
  • Develops and applies superior written, oral and visual communications in a variety of styles and formats

  • Shows curiosity and volunteers for project work to develop skills and broaden contact and influencer network
  • Partners closely with relevant TA business partners, HR, and others to ensure integrated, seamless, consistent TA and Enterprise-wide workforce communication
  • Bachelors degree is required
  • Driver of employee engagement and advocacy by supporting effective workforce communication and leading with a One Team mindset

Experience and Skills:


  • Exercise a high level of confidence and independent judgment in regular business situations
  • Experience dealing with media and social media
  • Proven self-starter and performer with 7+ years of experience managing communication in a company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency; proven track record of successful, independent execution of public relations/communications, corporate communication, science communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations strategies
  • Reliable and efficient project execution and strong organizer, analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders
  • Team player, open and transparent communicator
  • Demonstrated ability of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global, diverse matrix/remote environment
  • Demonstrated ability to support communication and business leaders and project teams
  • Global mindset and successful track record of working in a global or regional function, with direct experience of implementing international projects, and of competent internal and external stakeholder interactions on an international basis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of R&D processes and the global landscape and key issues for biopharmaceutical science and innovation

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $113,000 to $195,500. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis
