Position Summary:


TheEditor in Chief, Communication Senior Manager, will be responsible for determining which stories will be featured daily in our global intranet, editing content so that it fits our style guides and developing best in class digital communication standards. In addition, this person will also develop a communication plan and communication assets to support our intranet (HOME) ensuring we are maximizing employee engagement and supporting communicators with assets they can leverage. Lastly, this person will act as core team member on the Home team: representing Enterprise communication needs and suggesting content or governance changes that support Communication objectives.


Key Responsibilities


Ensure we have engaging content:


  • Set examples by posting engaging content such as quizzes, videos, etc
  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison between content publishers and the Home team, helping troubleshoot and problem solve as they publish on the platform
  • Co-lead content governance audits, revising governance if necessary and socializing new governance with content publishers (eg translation)
  • Review data to determine high performing content and share with publishers to inspire
  • Being the Communication ‘voice of Home’ helping ensure content is current, relevant and engaging for target audiences & aligned with style standards
  • Manage the monthly community of practice among Home content contributors, including planning, scheduling and hosting providing platform updates, sharing best practices and engaging top performers by highlighting good work
  • Playing the role of Editor in Chief: Determine homepage global widget editorial decisions, responsible for daily posting, scheduling and editing including QA of content in global widget, posting people news, posting J&J.com content to Home, posting Chairman & CEO content


Increase Employee Engagement & Drive Awareness Of Home


  • Frame & communicate the value story of Home, including co-creating presentations, signage, etc to be used with employees, leadership and business stakeholders
  • Ensure Home is integrated into all J&J Enterprise communication channels and continue to advocate / explain the value
  • Provide content and communication support for Home ranging from daily items (messaging regarding downtime, governance changes, platform updates) to larger scale, multi-channel comm efforts surrounding major projects and feature rollouts (apps, homepage redesigns, etc)
  • Co-lead Global Editor’s Meeting with sectors & functions to ensure their business needs are being met and to hear pain points and suggestions
  • Partner with HR & Enterprise Comms teams to determine best ways to position all-employee communication


Increase communication teams’ understanding of Home to drive increased employee usage:


  • Bachelors degree is required with a preference of study in the areas of Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or closely related field
  • Act as key representative of Home team to comms teams by sharing Home updates/timing/milestones etc and vice versa ensuring Home team is aware of Global priorities/needs
  • Share content capabilities of the content management system (CMS) ensuring communicators (and content publishers) are aware and leverage accordingly
  • Influence upcoming, new custom content opportunities on Home (eg: homepage takeovers) including development and distribution of governance
  • Use Google Analytics and other data measurement tools to provide insights resulting in continuous improvement of communication practices.
  • Co-create (with the Home team) mid-year and end-of-year review presentations to share current site metrics, new features and upcoming changes and additions to the platform
  • Help prioritize Home roadmap based on communication needs/challenges across sectors/regions


Required


Experience and Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of how to engage a digital audience, including news content is required
  • Influence and relationship management: The ability to build support and engagement from a wide range of colleagues, and drive toward successful outcomes, often without authority
  • A Minimum of 8+ years of solid communication and digital experience is required
  • Strong writing and editing skills required. The ability to understand target audiences and translate complex concepts into clear and engaging content
  • Previous experience with CMS’ and backend requirements of content posting/tagging is required (experience with Unily a plus)
  • Experience writing and developing communication plans
  • Experience supporting a heavily matrixed organization.
  • Strategic thinking and critical reasoning: Must possess expert judgment, as well as the ability to analyze issues and opportunities, and communicate their overarching impact to diverse audiences
  • Innovation: The ability to think beyond the “tried and true” to devise innovative ways to communicate, while aligning with goals and objectives
Preferred
  • Prior experience in MedTech or Pharmaceutical Industries

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $113,000 to $195,500.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
