Job Description
What To Expect
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead, support, and manage a team of technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate is a self-starter with strong leadership capabilities that can manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time. This leader will build a team that can work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and other departments. Your experience in fast-paced production lines as well as strong technical background will make you an ideal candidate for this role. You have a passion for employee development and enjoy the process of training and developing the next generation of techs. You are very hands-on, energetic, and have a capacity to think critically on many different complicated processes. Your proven ability to collaborate with employees, peers, and managers is one of your key strengths for success.
D Shift: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Wednesday 7pm -7am
What You’ll Do
  • Work with cross-functional teams including process engineering, equipment engineering and maintenance teams
  • Work with the training department ensuring manufacturing Instructions, versatility matrices and other technical documentation are current
  • Able to follow schematic diagrams and mechanical drawings to repair battery packs
  • Support training and coaching of remanufacturing technicians.
  • Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations.
  • Management of team includes proactively planning for labor needs in light of production ramp up, communicating job expectations, performing employee performance and objectives reviews, and managing team in alignment of company policies and procedures.
  • Reports OEE (cycle time/availability/performance) and required headcount for each area
  • Provide technical training to all technicians focused on controls, mechanics, electrical, etc.
  • Test and analyze assemblies
  • Set up work plan and priorities for the team based on business plan and needs
  • Full understating on test equipment parameters and use of Spock map to analyze results
  • Align projects to drive department goals by managing operations and driving metrics in critical area.
  • Ensure processes provide a high level of safety and ergonomic compliance
  • Perform complex and precise electro-mechanical trouble shooting to debug, repair and remanufacture products that meets all quality standards
  • Support issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking
  • Show proficiency using computer tools such as Word, Excel, Quick Base, MFS, MES and Outlook.
  • Able to troubleshoot, recover equipment faults, materials pick issues and MFS problems.
  • Determine root cause failures of complex electromechanical assemblies
  • Identify new failure modes
  • Lead remanufacturing technicians on process issues analysis and problem solving.
  • Monitor defect trends and escalate to responsible engineering, quality, and service teams
  • Collaborate with the process and quality teams to support on-going projects
  • Drive continuous improvement project initiatives
  • Manage repairs/troubleshooting exactly to instructed process
  • Manages the cross-shift communication for the technician teams
  • Optimize labor utilization, reduce waste, and reduce variability
What You’ll Bring
  • Ability to work and lead effectively with team and peers within a production and engineering organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence in presenting to upper management
  • Proficient with MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
  • Strong analytical capability and familiarity with analytical and statistical software systems
  • Demonstrates adherence to EHS regulations and standards and leads by example
  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to work a flexible shift, including nights and weekend, if necessary
  • Ability to work with and develop key performance metrics (efficiency, quality, safety, throughput, costs)
  • Enthusiastic, innovative, and take-charge attitude. This candidate is able to work independently and set the team’s priorities based on competing and urgent needs of the business.

  • 4 years of college/technical school or equivalent work experience, BS in science or engineering preferred
  • Must have experience managing direct reports in a production environment
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Proficient in lean manufacturing methodologies and leadership
