Overview:

Regional Sales Manager - is primarily responsible for driving top line revenue for customary sales, through direct sales efforts, related segments to include group & volume transient and is responsible for overseeing and managing area sales activities for 6+ hotels. The individual is expected to stay ahead of market trends and help monitor market share movement through ongoing competitive hotel analysis. He/she is also responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that Room revenues and Catering revenues meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits, and to improve the hotel’s performance in the marketplace. The Regional Sales Manager is also responsible for assisting in developing and implementing a marketing communications plan designed to achieve the desired positioning for the hotels, as well as managing the sales and marketing budget that supports revenue attainment.

Responsibilities:
  • Must be able to travel as needed throughout the Region including task force assignments.
  • Coordinate local activities in support of brand promotions and marketing campaigns.
  • React to negative trends in the marketplace by implementing blitzes or promotions.
  • Assess & react to market trends, market share & the competitive hotel environment.
  • Assist General Manager with achievement of annual budget through a targeted and focused sales effort.
  • Act as the hotel’s voice of the customer and communicate key issues/concerns at all levels of the organization.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of sales marketing plan designed to achieve the desired positioning of the hotel, as well as manage the sales & marketing budget that supports all initiatives.
  • Utilize STS (Sales Management System) and PMS (Property Management System) to enter all account information and activities produced.
  • Partner with Revenue Management and General Manager to develop and execute strategic sales and revenue strategies to positively affect revenues.
  • Understand GEO source & ability to develop a plan to penetrate the primary markets.
  • Fluent in reading/assimilating/using market intelligence, financial P&L, mix of sales, forecasting, group pace/position & a wide array of traditional hotel reporting.
  • Develop/implement key segment strategy & managing key accounts (both existing & target).
  • Exceed assigned Activity Quarterly goals as assigned; 50 activities per week (40 prospecting and 10 face-to-face meetings with potential customers)
  • Develop sales goals designed to achieve budget & market share targets.
  • Collaborate with respective hotel portfolio. Establish partnerships by frequent visits and meetings with General Manager, and staff.
  • Saturate local backyard market including all local and GSO accounts.
  • Conduct comprehensive competitive set reviews, SWOT analysis & track new supply.
  • Manage group pace measurement and set sales production goals.
  • Ability to understand and communicate market trends, demand generators, supply/demand and economic factors affecting hotel performance.
Qualifications:
  • Strong people skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively with revenue management & operation teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience dealing with/communicating with ownership groups and asset management.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of all market segments and channel distribution sources, as well as ability to develop a strategic plan for each.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Area/Regional sales oversight of multi-hotels preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must be effective in managing problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Prior hotel sales experience preferred.
  • Proficient in managing/using sales automation (i.e., DELPHI, STS, or alternative) & Brand PMS systems.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
