Job Description

The Department of Human Resources (DHR) seeks an energetic and resourceful administrative professional to join our team as a Recruiting Coordinator (HR Associate).

As a key member of the Talent Acquisition Team, the Recruiting Coordinator is responsible for administrative and technical support of recruitment processes. They provide high-level administrative support for the delivery of human resources services. This role will organize and support key elements of the selection process to include screening, testing, evaluating, and hiring talent across King County. They will also organize, prioritize, coordinate, and respond to a variety of work assignments, research, information requests, and creation of documents.

The ideal candidate likes to solve problems, enjoys working as part of a team, and jumps at the chance to work on projects. Job Duties

Successful position candidates will be able to clearly demonstrate skill and ability to:

  • Manage records. Ensure timely creation, maintenance, and archival of documents/files to support historical accuracy; compile information, documents, and records for public disclosure requests; and follow records retention and destruction procedures in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Act as a system support for NEOGOV and other software programs. Manage data, provide customer service in response to users’ inquiries, and generate reports.
  • Serve as recruitment team coordinator. Participatein the recruitment and selection process; post job opportunities; arrange external advertisements; screen applications; schedule interviews; prepare interview material; proctor exams; and administer applicant tracking, testing, and reference/background checking systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service. Respond to inquiries and deliver informational assistance to applicants, employees, and other customers, and coordinate with other units/departments to obtain information and/or to share information.
  • Perform general office support. Answer phones, prepare correspondence and reports, schedule meetings and appointments, research, and compile information, maintain assignment logs, update templates and websites, and make recommendations for process improvements and streamlining procedures.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the work.
  • Two years of progressively responsible senior-level administrative experience related to the duties of the position; OR

Other Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in use of Microsoft Office 365 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams for daily work. Use online tools as well as possess the ability to use application tracking and/or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. The County uses Microsoft Office, NEOGOV, and PeopleSoft Human Capital Management.
  • Experience working in an HR environment or have an interest and want to learn about the practices of human resources management and employment-related federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Present strong customer service, organizational, analytical, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn and use database applications and analytical tools, including evaluating data quality.
  • Enjoy meeting new people and have the ability to attend job fairs/community events as an ambassador of King County.
  • Ability to utilize SharePoint and other tools to automate processes and track work items.

Other Position Information
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek, normally 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 Professional & Technical and is classified as a Human Resource Associate; class code 2311100.

Who May Apply
This recruitment is open to King County employees and the public and will be used to fill one Term Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA). It is anticipated to extend through December 31, 2024.

Note: Special duty opportunities are open only to current King County career service and appointed employees who have completed their initial probation. Special duty applicants must have approval from their supervisor to accept an assignment. Current employees selected for special duty will be compensated based upon the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement or Coalition Labor Agreement for their base assignment.
