Job Description

The HR & Recruiting Specialist is responsible for managing the recruiting process for Verity Credit Union, including sourcing, identifying, screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an onboarding program that promotes retention and employee satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Acts as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
  • Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers, directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Builds applicant sources by developing relationships with industry groups, community services, colleges, employment agencies, and search firms. Effectively utilize database search tools to identify passive candidates.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains an effective onboarding process to include the preparation of onboarding materials, and collaborating with hiring managers and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Tracks key metrics of the hiring process. Provides reports and analysis to leadership. Makes recommendations for process improvement to HR Leadership.
  • Manages the onboarding process to include, background screenings, I9 completion, personnel folder development, ordering and distribution of new hire supplies, and maintenance of the HRIS system.
  • Develops and maintain an offboarding process to include the preparation of offboarding materials, conducting exit interviews, and relaying relevant information to offboarding employees and management as appropriate.
  • Screens applications and selects qualified candidates.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Schedules interviews; oversees the preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or relevant field of study desired
  • Experience in the financial industry desired.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for the recruitment of a variety of roles.
  • Hands-on experience with recruiting software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) or Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • Familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Management Systems (CMS)
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
