SUMMARY
Manages the day-to-day activities of the assigned product lines. Develops the overall plans/programs for multiple products, brands, or significant business segments. Role typically handles higher volume and/or higher level of complexity for assigned products/brands. Works closely with sales, product planning, logistics, and production in the optimization of new/existing customers and markets. Tracks and analyzes demand data, customer satisfaction, and many other aspects of the business including external market information related to product line.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conducts product training and represents product(s) at industry trade shows or customer events as needed.
- Develops business and marketing plans for assigned product/brands, including pricing strategies, sales plans and implementation plans. Also manages a set budget for assigned product/brand.
- Tracks and analyzes product order patterns, customer demand, and works with product planners to ensure customer requirements are being met at the lowest cost to serve.
- Any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
- Participates in, evaluates, and reports market research and analysis. This includes networking with customers and monitoring competitor strategies.
- Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams.
- Works closely with sales, engineering, and production on design, distribution, and product specifications/changes as needed. Also handles tactical issues associated with service, sales, quality and/or supply chain as required.
- Completes and reports monthly estimate preparation, real-time tracking, and post-mortem deviation analysis.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Position requires skills in the fundamentals of marketing, sales, and financial analysis.
- Bachelor degree in technical or business related field. Advanced business degree preferred.
- Incumbent must have strong analytical/modeling skills with some experience in the chemical, petroleum, or manufacturing business.
- Must have effective verbal/written/presentation skills.
- Minimum 8 years commercial experience in sales, marketing, or product management, preferably within the chemical industry.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and be able to develop accurate, detailed analyses under time pressure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
