What we’re looking for
The National Manager, International Treasury will provide executive leadership for Treasury functions for Americas Oceania Region (“AOR”) Sales Finance Companies (“SFCs”) in Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand. Each SFC environment is unique in terms of the scale, complexity, and maturity of its treasury and risk management environment which must be managed and led accordingly.
This role will directly impact the performance of the SFCs by delivering innovative and cost-effective funding and risk management strategies and influencing the development of global treasury and risk management policies. Given the role’s visibility with and access to business and finance functions across the SFCs, AOR management and TMCC, the International Treasury National Manager is in a position to leverage existing platforms within the region to deliver enhanced treasury and financial risk management results and best practices for the SFCs or TMCC.
Additionally, this role will support the TMCC/AOR GVP Treasury and Group Manager Debt/Capital Markets by leading special projects related to TFS’ development, rollout and administration of Treasury Shared Service Centers or Centers of Excellence, or other projects that may arise.
What you’ll be doing
AOR Treasury
- Communicate and elevate regional Treasury, ALM and Risk management practices and challenges to senior regional management, Japan Staff, parent company and other stakeholders.
- Ensure the SFCs’ treasury activities comply with global risk management policies and treasury guidelines.
- Partner with AOR management and parent company personnel, as required, to assess TFS expansion to new countries or businesses within AOR’s geographic footprint.
- Lead AOR Management Committee and other executive presentations on treasury matters.
- Partner with Tax to ensure appropriate transfer pricing structures are in place.
- Oversee the region’s treasury and financial risk management activities.
- Explore, analyze, and coordinate the execution of diversified funding alternatives for the SFCs in the region.
- Partner with TMCC Treasury to evaluate opportunities to expand existing treasury and risk management systems (eg Wall St Suite and Bancware) or analytic tools to other TFS SFCs.
- Meet with global and local banking partners to foster relationships, explore additional funding opportunities, and rationalize credit profiles of the SFCs. Collaborate with TMCC Treasury to ensure regional bank relationship issues and metrics are captured in the global bank scorecard.
- Develop robust market risk measurements and reporting allowing for more accurate and real-time monitoring and governance of the SFCs’ risk profiles and positions.
- Explore opportunities to leverage TMCC analytic platforms and capabilities for the benefit of regional SFCs.
- Collaborate with AOR management (Executives, International Operations, Finance, Tax, Legal, IDS, HR, Risk, Accounting, SFC Management) to ensure treasury, finance and operational objectives are aligned.
- Analyze and obtain regional management and parent company approval for SFC’s local funding programs, structures, and initiatives.
- Drive recommendations and influence changes to Global Treasury Policies and Guidelines.
Special Projects / Treasury Shared Services
- Partner with TMCC Legal to negotiate internal agreements with Toyota affiliates and external agreements with banking and treasury service providers.
- Lead development of existing and future treasury Center of Excellence or Shared Services Center opportunities in the region or globally. Collaborate with SMEs and other stakeholders in affected SFCs and TFSC.
- Determine appropriate transfer pricing, cost structures, and P&L for treasury shared services and manage related reporting requirements.
Resource Development
- Evaluate resource requirements and training needs to advise SFCs on treasury bench strength.
- Enhance relationships and share best practices among senior Finance and Treasury staff in the region.
Other
- International travel to regional SFCs required occasionally.
- Provide ongoing support for Global Funding Committee (GFC) and Enterprise Risk Committee with presentation materials or representation, as needed or required.
- Advise AOR/TMCC GVP Treasury and Group Manager Debt/Capital Markets or consult to treasury team leads with respect to strategy and coordination of TMCC Treasury and Finance external benchmarking and other initiatives.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field required.
- Must have a strong understanding and experience with raising funds in international capital markets, an understanding of asset/liability risk management techniques and requirements, and experience with managing cross border currency and interest rate risk exposure.
- Demonstrated experience working in emerging markets and other developed international environments.
- Successful in leading and implementing change initiatives. Ability to advise and influence business leadership in a multinational environment.
- 10+ years of progressive experience with proven management and leadership ability; strong performance in a diversified, complex corporate environment with responsibilities for treasury and executive-level presentation of financial information and strategies.
Added bonus if you have
- MBA and/or other professional qualification preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese would be highly preferred.
- Treasury experience in Latin America, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
