Position Summary

We are currently seeking a dedicated Business Analytics Manager to join our North America Pricing and Monetization team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional business analytics that drive success for our pricing and monetization strategy. The North America Pricing and Monetization is responsible for how $40B of merchandise transacted in North America translates to bottom line revenue for our company. Your primary focus will involve developing and providing practical insights derived from analytics to enhance business performance. By gaining a deeper understanding of the key drivers and opportunities within our business, you will help drive revenue growth for eBay pricing and monetization.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Work with business partners to scope analysis to answer key business questions – challenge their thinking and become a trusted business partner. Help the business prioritize analytical deliverables and manage their expectations.
• Perform exploratory analysis of large data sets.
• Demonstrate strong analytical and statistical skills towards taking complex and unstructured business problems, and providing structured, hypothesis-driven and data-supported practical solutions
• Have strong empirical and analytical background, with demonstrated ability to combine quantitative and qualitative findings to frame the right questions and measurable insights
• Derive tactical and strategic insights to improve business strategies and accelerate channel growth
• Be a lateral problem solver, who constructively challenges the obvious answer to examine the underlying mechanism or phenomenon

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or other quantitative subject area
• Hypothesis testing and experience with experimentation (A/B testing)
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create visually impactful reports and dashboards
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data science or related field with a Bachelor’s degree Or 4+ years of experience with a Master’s degree
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling techniques and their application to business scenarios
• Background in ecommerce retail domain is a plus
• Strong technical skills in data analysis tools and programming languages (SQL, Python/R, and Excel) to manipulate and analyze large, complex datasets

The Team

We are the Member-to-Member Communications Team at eBay, responsible for building eBay’s instant messaging system and applications for our sellers and buyers, where millions of messages are exchanged every day on our platform.

The Role

We are looking for a senior staff software engineer to work in Member-to-Member communications group that enables email/chat communication between eBay users across global sites. You will work on large scale applications processing millions of transactions in a minute. As a self-motivated and enthusiastic member of our team, you will work with talented peers in a fun environment building world class products. You will work in an agile environment with a focus on problem solving and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design discussions, code reviews and project related team meetings
• Develop technical & domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges.
• Build solutions using your strong background in large scale web applications.
• Work with other engineers, Architecture, Product Management, QA, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs.
• Research, analyze, design, develop and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience driving architecture discussions, producing well-documented design docs, participating in design and code reviews and contributing to coding and unit testing of fault-tolerant applications.
• 10+ years of experience crafting & developing highly scalable distributed platforms and services and internet scale web applications.
• Deep architectural understanding of system design and lead project to completion and must have solid knowledge and experiences with relational database (oracle) and/or noSQL data technologies (Mongo, Cassandra, Couchbase), ElasticSearch and related toolset.
• BSCS, BSEE, MSEE or MSCS, PhD or similar technical degree.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms along with up-to-date knowledge in advancement in Web technologies and drive innovation.
• Expert hands on experiences in Java/J2EE, SOAP, SOA Services, Design Patterns, OOA/D , Data Structures, XML, REST, JSON, and Internet Protocols.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence a multi-functional and cross-geography team to deliver results.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below.

$149,200 - $234,850

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
