This role is with the Dole Fresh Vegetables (DFV) division. DFV will provide INTERNAL CANDIDATES priority and consideration of their success in existing and prior roles as valid experience.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for supporting the Human Resources department in all hourly staffing, hiring, orientation, training, testing, employee relations and record keeping of the files and associated documents. Provide support for the safety and workers’ comp program, as well as Payroll and Benefits department. Supervise all HR personnel including any temporary personnel in the department.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
Talent Acquisition And Retention (non-exempt) 30%
  • Lead the facility’s Talent Acquisition functions for non-exempt job levels. Helps to ensure that the selection process is effective in selecting high quality candidates who meet or exceed the company’s standards.
  • Work closely on the department’s succession planning process at a non-exempt level.
  • Work with the hiring manager to ensure they take steps to get the employee on-boarded. The HR Supervisor will also champion the facility’s New Hire Orientation program.
  • Oversee the onboarding, training and supervision of temporary employees as well as serves as a liaison for the facility’s temporary staffing agencies.
  • Collaborate with operations and support leaders to ensure adequate staffing levels to meet the organization’s goals and objectives.

Compliance 10%
  • Work in conjunction with the HR Manager to develop and implement the facility’s annual Affirmative Action Plans and related EEO activities to ensure compliance to all applicable legal guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance in completing I-9’s and E-Verify system entries.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local laws.
Employee/Labor Relations 35%
  • Maintain acute knowledge of all company policies and practices and assure consistency is followed throughout.
  • Advise managers and supervisors in employee investigations, counseling and termination guidelines to ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees.
  • Foster a welcoming environment with employees and monitor the organizational culture so that it supports the attainment of the company’s goals and promotes employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Prompt execution of all investigations and resolution of employee issues.
  • Advise managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the company. Counsels managers on employment issues.
  • Track, monitor and respond to disciplinary action requests made by department supervisors/managers. Reviews and makes decisions based on facts reported. Maintain consistency with past practices.
  • Provide leadership for recognition and rewards programs to drive employee participation and satisfaction.
  • Design, implement, manage and improve HR programs to drive employee engagement and satisfaction.

Human Resources Department Supervision and Coordination 15%
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and responsibilities of the HR staff such as, recordkeeping, payroll processing and compliance, customer service, wellness events, temp employee acquisition, leave of absence administration, benefits administration, etc.
  • Train the HR staff in any applicable legal updates and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure effective policies and procedures are in place and are processed timely, accurate and within legal requirements while meeting organizational objectives.
  • Prepare and analyze data to evaluate HR Department accomplishments in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department when needed.
  • Coordinate regularly scheduled as well as surprise audits to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements as well as to prevent errors in processing of internal data.
Other 10%
  • Ensure the integrity and continued operations of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Translate internal and external documents as needed.
  • Support special projects.
  • Follow all food safety requirements and GMP’s as applicable for this position.
  • Serve as point of contact for all in absence of HR Manager.
Required Skills
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
  • 5 years minimum in a Human Resources position with Generalist exposure preferably in the produce industry and 3 years Supervisory experience
  • Strong working knowledge of State and Federal Laws.
  • Bi-lingual skills specific to the location’s workforce needs - both oral and written a must
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel, Database programs, preferably ADP, Workforce time keeping system, ACCESS or HRIS.
  • Ability to travel to local Dole offices periodically. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently; ability to maintain positive working relationships. Must have the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, communicate well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept feedback for improvement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear to communicate, as well as maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 15lbs. There may be situations where it will be required to be present on the plant floor where the environment is 34 degrees, the ambient air has the presence of fumes, the floors and surfaces are wet, there is the use of industrial equipment and moving machinery, and the use and wearing of PPE is required.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work beyond regular business hours, weekends, rotating shifts preferred/required to meet goals.
Required Experience
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • PHR certification very desirable
PAY RATE:
  • $75,000 - $80,000 Annually
