Job Description

Heavy Civil Contractor seeking an HR Manager to help their rapidly growing team.


Qualifications:

  • 5 + years experiences
  • Excellent communication skill, with the ability to build positive relationships
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Prior experience with employee relations and HR compliance.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of emotional intelligence and problem solving abilities.
  • Must know Microsoft office, excel, outlook, etc.


Responsibilities:

  1. Employee Handbook
  2. Update yearly to reflect new laws; consult with Esq., periodically to keep apprised of updated laws.
  3. If the Handbook is updated, send updates to all employees.
  4. Provide to all new hires; review PTO policy, holidays, 401k & health benefits, types of Leave including FMLA & PFL
  5. Personnel Records
  6. Have new employees sign the last page of the Handbook acknowledging receipt and give it to Payroll to place in their personnel file.
  7. Payroll will provide the new employee with paperwork that needs to be filled out (tax forms, copies of licenses, OSHA cards, etc.).
  8. Any disciplinary letters, medical notes, and workers’ comp-related issues should go in the personnel file.
  9. Employee Relations
  10. Settle disputes between employees
  11. Deal with employee grievances
  12. Disciplinary issues
  13. HR email & calendar
  14. Monitor HR email for PTO requests.
  15. Put PTO/sick time/WFH on HR calendar.
  16. Employee Evaluations
  17. Coordinate evaluations if Triumph returns to a formal process.
  18. Hiring/Firing
  19. Draft job descriptions
  20. Deal with recruiters & search companies
  21. Review resumes
  22. Interview potential candidates.
  23. Draft Offer Letters with proper job titles, descriptions, benefits, wages and include language that it is NOT an employment contract.
  24. Firing
  25. College/Job Fairs/webpage
  26. Check local schools to determine when job fairs are scheduled.
  27. Sign up/attend.
  28. Work with Lloyd/Epoch 5 to update materials/handouts.
  29. Speak with Lloyd/Epoch 5 to update the website. (Visit sites or request pictures and descriptions from the project manager and the supervisor about the contract)
  30. Business Cards
  31. Provide Lloyd/Epoch 5 with new employee information to order new business cards.
  32. Department of Labor Posters
  33. These must be updated yearly. We use a service called Personnel Concepts.
  34. Posters must be hung where all employees can view them.
  35. Posters need to be in Spanish & English
  36. Posters are supposed to be hung in all field offices as well as home office.


The above salary range represents Cobalt’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is one part of the total rewards package this client provides to employees.
