CloudTrucks is looking for a General Manager of Equipment Operations to take ownership and accountability across all equipment operations workflows. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of equipment operations for CloudTrucks, including equipment coordination, equipment maintenance, and equipment account management. This role will lead a team of shipping and logistics professionals to ensure that all equipment operations are executed in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This role will report to our future Head of Operations, and to our CEO & Co-Founder in the interim.
- Examples of equipment this person would be in charge of include trailers, plates, ELDs, and truck maintenance/compliance.
- Trailers are an integral part of our business offering to truck drivers, but there’s a lot to manage. We need to source and establish partnerships with providers, build out leasing terms and onboarding expectations for drivers, create robust tracking, maintenance protocol and reporting internally, ensure consistent AP and AR workflows, and smooth transitions when they change hands.
- Here at CloudTrucks, we help our truck drivers obtain plates. We oversee the entire lifecycle of plate management from delivering them to our drivers on time to getting the plates returned and completely off boarded.
- This role will also play a huge role in truck maintenance and compliance. While we do not own our own trucks, we are still very much accountable for the condition and compliance of them.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, plan, and execute projects and root cause analyses to improve our existing processes
- Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all things equipment for the entire company
- Work with product, design, and engineering to develop business cases and insights from trailers experience to unlock more automation and codified data.
- Define, measure, and take absolute ownership of trailer KPIs (billback rate, in service rate, growth, utilization rate, etc)
- Work cross-functionally with supporting teams (such as Operations, Safety, Customer Success, Insurance, Business Development, Sales, and Finance) to deliver on shared goals and priorities
Requirements:
- Comfortable managing through ambiguity with strong bias for action
- 6+ years of experience in Trucking/Logistics, with relevant experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Proven experience of managing multiple projects end-to-end in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work to tight timelines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex data and insights to actionable recommendations to support cross-functional decision-making
- Obsessive about process improvement, pursuing micro efficiencies and seeking step-change improvements
Preferred Experience:
- Understanding of the trucking trailer industry
- Leadership experience at a high growth tech company
About CloudTrucks

They move more than 70% of all goods transported around the U.S., yet operate in a highly fragmented industry with huge opportunities for products, services and automation. We strive to deliver solutions that help truck drivers operate with much greater efficiency, increase their revenue, and offload business complexity. We are looking for uniquely exceptional people to join us on our journey as we massively scale into an industry-defining business. Recently, we raised $115 million in a Series B round. Here is a letter from our CEO that describes what's next.
