Overview


Tangelo aims to improve healthy food access and promote healthier lifestyles by making nutritious, affordable, and delicious food options accessible through a benefits platform for low-income families and those with chronic conditions. Our platform provides subsidized medically tailored meals and healthy grocery delivery at reduced costs, or even free, through partnerships with insurance companies, governments, universities, non-profits, and employers.


As the General Manager for Cal-Assist, you'll be the overseer of all our operations in the state of California. This role encompasses broad responsibilities, from supervising sales, nurturing partnerships with community-based organizations, accelerating customer acquisition particularly among Medicaid enrollees, guiding our marketing strategy, to implementing efficient processes and managing complex projects. Furthermore, you'll be entrusted with the daily operations, administrative tasks, and financial management of the business in California. Your role is integral in fulfilling our vision of making healthy food accessible to every Californian.


Role Scope:


  • Ensure all activities and programs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Manage the financial aspects of the business, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting; Ensure financial sustainability and the growth of operations in California
  • Spearhead the design and implementation of enrollment programs aimed at addressing food insecurity among MediCal participants; Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to ensure goals are met
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, insurance companies, governments and nonprofits to support our mission
  • Lead our marketing strategy in California to raise awareness, encourage customer acquisition, and promote customer retention
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the staff, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation; Implement training programs as needed to boost team competencies and program delivery effectiveness
  • Design and execute strategic sales plans to achieve company objectives and expand our customer base, particularly among Medicaid enrollees
  • Develop, standardize, and implement key processes to ensure operational efficiency; Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth execution of all business activities.


Requirements


  • Strong understanding of marketing strategies and trends
  • Deep knowledge of the California health landscape and its unique challenges
  • Extensive experience in building partnerships with community-based organizations and other key stakeholders
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a health tech, start-up, non-profit, government entity or related field
  • Proven experience in Operations, Financial Management, Partnerships, Sales, and Customer Acquisition, with a demonstrated understanding of the Medi-Cal and CalAIM landscape
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Administration, or related field
  • Must be able to lead and work as part of a cross-functional team, building new healthcare partnerships, products, and services.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of leading and delivering complex projects
  • Excellent creative, organization, multitasking and attention to detail capabilities
  • Must be able to work within a dynamic environment, including managing multiple projects, and pivot or change direction as needed
