Based in San Diego at Advanced Electro Magnetics Inc facility part of Microwave Vision Group, we are seeking for a General Manager.
The GM possesses the highest personal and professional integrity and shall comply with applicable policies and procedures of MVG, The general manager is committed to meet AEMI target by delivering high quality product at competitive cost by driving continuous improvement, and puts customer service first. The GM shall be a natural born leader with high communication skills in a multicultural environment. The GM shall avoids potential or actual conflicts of interest
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
- Develop, at least annually, for consideration a strategic plan outlining the direction and policies which seek to ensure AEMI profitable growth and success.
Financial Planning
- ·Develop annually, business plans and budgets to meet the Corporation's goals and objectives.
Tactical
- Lead and coordinate AEMI management team : Operations, Finance, Sales, Engineering, Quality , Human Resources, Project Management
- Analyzes metrics and proactively implements improvements and solutions to issues that are identified.
- Establish, monitor and maintain appropriate management systems to provide effective internal control of operations
- Responsible for all facilities management and the required outside services that are required
- Ensure all quality and regulatory standards are met as applicable for ISO certification.
- Implement processes digitalization to ensure accurate, real time, information is available at all times;
- Support direct reports to troubleshoot and resolve problems as required; using problem-solving skills quickly ascertains a situation and decisive in solving it; escalate issues as needed to engineering and other departments.
- Define the strategic direction for safety, establishing performance targets for the operating businesses and ensuring adherence to established policies and standards.
- Oversee the compensation, performance assessment, leadership, talent development and succession planning of managers.
- Implement processes in alignment with business strategic initiatives; develop and present annual budgets to support the initiatives.
- Develop and implement operational policies
- Implement, monitor and meet KPI's (i.e. business development, financial and operational performance, customer satisfaction : on time quality and delivery , people development, innovation)
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, responsibility and accountability through employee engagement and leading by example.
- Responsible for the business wide JHSC including associated activities such as fire and evacuation plans, first aid responders and workplace audit.
- Identify, to the extent possible, all significant risks to AEMI’s business and consider and establish, where appropriate, procedures to mitigate the impact of the risks.
Succession Planning
- Develop and maintain a continuous plan for the development and performance management of managers,
- Identify and develop potential successors who can now or who will in the future be able to fill the position of CEO and other key managers positions. These recommendations are to be reviewed annually with MVG corporate
Experience and Education
- Strong technical, computer and systems knowledge; Hands on experience with ERP and MRP systems and methods.
- Proven success as an operations manager to engage and inspire their team to exceed expectations.
- Hands on experience in the application of lean principles and Design for Six Sigma, 5S, visual management systems, standardized work, kaizen, etc.
- Facilitate regular meetings and updates to ensure the accurate and timely flow of information as required by the team and all other functions.
- 10+ years previous experience as a hands-on manufacturing or operations manager in the aerospace, defense or other regulated high technology industry
- Ability to write reports and effectively present information.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferrred
- Demonstrates effective organizational skills with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrates positive open interpersonal skills with proven ability to work constructively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders while demonstrating an acceptable level of assertiveness.
- Strong knowledge and problem-solving skills to effectively solve logistics, manufacturing, and technical problems.
- Proven time management and organization skills required to meet production deadlines, shipping dates and projects; must possess a sense of urgency.
- Sound understanding of manufacturing strategies, supply chain and materials management and financial operations management.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Certifications:
- Certified in Health and Safety
- Quality and supply chain or industrial management training
- ERP training and certification, SAP is preferred.
- Certification to Lean and or Six Sigma is preferred.
