Role Synopsis

The Liquidity team is leading a change in the way bp views, manages and optimises cash and financing. We are partnering with banks, working closely with businesses and using technology to transform business processes and deliver competitive financing and risk management.

We have complete oversight of the group and deep expertise covering:

• Banking performance and business focused solutions; and
• Cash & liquidity management;
• Bp entity funding and structuring.
• Global banking architecture and strategy;

Within Liquidity, the Banking team has distinguished itself through numerous achievements, creating substantial value and effectively mitigating risks. Notable successes included leading the selection and directing the deployment of strategic transactional banking partners and exercising more comprehensive oversight of decentralised foreign exchange activities. As group’s strategy continues to evolve, our team stands ready to leverage its robust foundation to support emerging business needs (e.g., consumer payments) through our core partnerships.

As a Banking Advisor, you will lead various discrete projects and collaborate with fellow team members in embedding and refining our treasury banking strategy. This includes owning and optimising the group's bank account architecture to enhance liquidity access and bolster risk management capabilities. In addition, you will help deepen our strategic partnerships, playing a vital role in supporting the group's transition.

The incumbent will also have the unique opportunity to work cross-functionally with a diverse set of teams within our organisation. As an important link between these units, you will facilitate information flow, support decision-making processes, and contribute to the effective management of our financial resources.

Finally, as the role evolves, you will also gain exposure to wider Treasury Liquidity activities such as corporate structuring and funding initiatives.

Key accountabilities

• Contribute to the management of the key risks associated with transactional banking (fraud, integrity, sanctions, cyber)
• Provide support and input on Transactional Banking to relevant major programmes e.g. Cash & Banking Transformation, TMS Replacement
• Provide capability to support complex transactions e.g. M&A
• Interact with local cash managers for sharing of Transactional Banking best practice
• Lead transactional banking projects to support Treasury and BP strategy
• Provide coverage for other roles within the wider Liquidity team as required
• Provide guidance and expertise to businesses on Banking matters to ensure implementation and adherence to relevant policies across the Group
• Key contributor to design and execution of Banking RFPs
• Engagement with banks to ensure effective and competitive provision of transactional banking services
• Management of Treasury processes specific to US operations including debt administration and corporate entity Treasury activity.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

• Can-do attitude and proven initiative, with ability to challenge the status quo and influence stakeholders
• Proven ability to work effectively within a global team and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills
• Deep experience in transactional banking, in-house banking operations and banking relationships
• Comprehensive understanding of banking solutions and associated risks, including fraud, cyber threats, and sanctions
