The Role: Product Owner, Energy Studio Impact
The Location: Houston, TX
The Team: Upstream North America Content manages a portfolio of content products for Land, Subsurface, Well, and Production personas for traditional oil and gas and energy transition workflows. Our goal is to discover new sources of growth through continuous product innovation.
The Impact: You will be responsible for building and delivering our Energy Studio Impact customer-facing application. As a Product Owner you will own the application’s Product Roadmap and, in collaboration with the Scrum Master(s), ensure Development Team(s) is building the product discovered by your Product Manager.
What’s in it for you: Partner with upstream subject matter experts, data scientists, and developers to discover the data products that power the digital transformation in the energy sector. Access to the most prestigious oil and gas operators in North America to identify their problems and help them develop the right solutions for them.
Responsibilities:
As Product Owner, you are responsible for communicating and translating the data vision, roadmap and workflow requirements into user stories and employing agile methodology to manage the execution of their development.
The Product Owner is key to the development team serving as a proxy for internal and external customers. Translates content requirements into clear & specific user stories for development scrum teams to implement.
Plans, prioritizes, and maintains a healthy backlog of user stories aligned with product roadmaps.
Collaborates with key stakeholders (sourcing, operations product management, development, and delivery) to ensure goals are clear and aligned to business objectives.
Communicates the product vision(s) and serves as a champion of customer perspectives in scrum meetings. Identifies and clearly communicates priorities, dependencies, and roadblocks to key stakeholders.
Evaluates, tracks and reports on project progress against the timelines, specifications and features defined in the product roadmap. In addition to development against specific customer requests. Anticipates, communicates, and escalates delivery challenges appropriately.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technology, Engineering, Geology, Data Science, Business, or equivalent preferred.
1-5 years’ experience as a product manager, product owner, in software development, or product support role, or content operations or customer support preferred.
Scrum Master Certification required (or obtained within first 3 months on the job sponsored by S&P Global). Pragmatic Institute Product Management Levels I and II required (or obtained within first 12 months on the job sponsored by S&P Global).
Excellent time management, analytical and problem-solving skills required. Project management and Agile experience preferred. Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Serena, or Jira preferred.
Oil and gas Upstream experience a plus but not required
Smart – intellectually curious
Creative – thinking outside the box
Persistent – pushing organizations beyond comfort zone and killing siloes with constant communication
Ambitious – desire to disrupt the upstream sector through automation and digital transformation
Grade/Level ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 12
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $88,400 to $175,650. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
