The General Motors Dealer, Aftersales and CCA Supply Chain group is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future opportunities as a Product Owner. About the Product Owner role-
The Product Owner holds the responsibility for establishing and nurturing relationships with end users (e.g., Business Team/Customer) for medium to large-scale projects. Your main task involves gathering requirements and user stories, then effectively communicating them to both the Enterprise Solutions Delivery and Enterprise Sustain Services teams during the systems development cycle.
The Product Owner will be accountable for building and maintaining the relationship with the end user (i.e. Business Team/Customer) for medium to large scale projects. You will be responsible for eliciting requirements / user stories and representing them to the Enterprise Solutions Delivery and Enterprise Sustain Services teams throughout the systems development cycle. In this role, you will lead requirements elicitation and documentation for one or more medium to large projects with increased complexity. Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Coordinates with Business on Problem and Incident Management
- Serves as the requirements liaison between the business community and the IT teams
- Partners with business to ensure comprehensive user acceptance testing/training plans are developed/executed and application is successfully transitioned to production
- Project coordination & execution role for Plan and Define as part of the System Development process
- Makes recommendations on what projects should be pursued
- Assists with coordination & representation for Change Requests (CRs)
- Development of business process models, business requirements/user stories (functional and non-functional) and product backlogs
- Supports IT Strategy Development
- Perform research on new ideas / initiatives the organization may want to pursue
- Defines technical roadmap and the required product features to support that roadmap
- Story Acceptance & Validation: Collaborating with teams to agree on accepted story completion, validating adherence to acceptance criteria and ensuring stories comply with the agreed upon Definition of Done.)
- Prospective team members possess a high degree of business insight, creativity, decision making skills, a drive for results, the ability to negotiate, the ability to develop strong peer relationships, and a strong technical learning capability and focus.
- Technical Knowledge Acquisition: Learning and understanding the technical components, features, and tools of the platform within the broader GM Ecosystem.)
- Increased understanding of business issues and data challenges of the business
- Identifies business strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement
- Assists with identifying/selecting the best talent. Responsible for directing and prioritizing work, managing performance and providing guidance / coaching to team members. Manages the culture within their team, holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and creates a winning culture.
- Coordinates project business value/return on investment analysis
Additional
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related and applicable experience
- Planning, negotiation and facilitation skills
- In-depth understanding of business issues and data challenges of the organization and industry as a whole
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated strength in critical skills such as collaboration, written and oral communications, and analytical capability
- Demonstrated in-depth understanding of Business Process fundamentals; including requirements elicitation, stakeholder collaboration, effective and timely communications, and problem-solving skills
- Strong Communication (verbal and writing) and analytical skills
- 3-5 years’ work experience with IT Project Execution
- Strong time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in IT project management, requirements definition, process definition, testing, and IT strategy and roadmap development.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Expertise in utilizing requirements tools (Team Foundation)
- Deep domain / business process knowledge (multi-industry preferred)
- Experience with GM Dealer technology footprint
- Development experience/background

Compensation: The expected base compensation for this role is : $90,200 - $144,100 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
