Assistant Director Of Social Enterprises

Oversee the development, operation, budget, and growth of the organization’s social enterprises, including but not limited to Catering, Commercial Cleaning, Greenhouse, Landscaping, Packaging & Production, Gift Shop, and the Wheatley Farm & Arts Center. Ensure efficient and effective daily operations and fiscal viability of all social enterprises. Establish and cultivate corporate and community partnerships to expand enterprises operated by AHRC Nassau. Build organizational quality and visibility, increase organizational revenue through new business opportunities, and develop higher corporate partnerships that promote career development and advancement for people with developmental disabilities. Evaluate, develop, brand, and market existing and new social enterprises.

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to

• Establishes and facilitates regular meetings of a Business Advisory Council made up of corporate and community leaders to develop and expand our core business and to offer expertise and counsel to promote the growth of business products and services.
• Networks with and engages potential new corporate and business customers to promote new business and facilitates establishment of new contracts for services.
• Experience employing and/or supporting people with disabilities in employment strongly preferred.
• Engages current customers to obtain feedback, to improve customer relations, and to market additional services.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or similar applications required.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills required.
• Collaborates with Community Resources, Prevocational and Supported Employment Services, Day Habilitation Services, Board Members, Finance Department, and Executive staff, as necessary, to coordinate branding and marketing strategies and campaigns.
• Five (5) years’ experience in business development and operations, marketing, branding and design, financial analysis, promotions, and/or related field required; Experience in multiple areas related to business development, especially branding and marketing, strongly preferred.
• Develops, implements, and continually evaluates success of Marketing Plans for each social Enterprise.
• Evaluates current markets for social enterprises and recommends development of new services and resources to capitalize on current and future opportunities for business growth.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Services, or related field required; Masters or post-graduate degree strongly preferred.
• Evaluates the success of social enterprises to improve efficiency and quality and to expand capacities of current social enterprises in order in order to improve performance and continually position business lines for growth.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills required.
• Develops, implements, and continually evaluates Business Plans for each social enterprise, and provides updates and recommendations to Director of Employment Services and Social Enterprises and to Executive Leadership.
• Oversees the operation of each social enterprise to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective provision of high-quality products and services, including direct and indirect supervision of management staff within each enterprise.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Employment Services and Social Enterprises.
• Ability to work flex hours, including occasional evenings and weekends required.
• Evaluates and manages the financial performance of each social enterprise for fiscal viability, identifies areas for improvement, and implements strategies to achieve needed improvements to ensure fiscal viability.
• Ensures compliance with all required certifications, regulations, and staff credentials and training as required by local, state, and federal oversight bodies for the safe and proper operation of each business line.

The ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool is required.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
