Job Description
AKA NYC is an award-winning, fully integrated advertising agency with unparalleled expertise across the arts & entertainment, leisure, travel, retail, and tourism sectors. We are looking for a Director of Social Media to lead social media campaigns for our diverse clients across the entertainment, theatrical, cultural and destination industries in NYC and beyond. The Director of Social Media will be responsible for earning and driving engagement across existing and emerging social platforms for AKA’s roster of entertainment and cultural clients. They will develop integrated strategies around fan engagement, community management, sponsored and branded social integrations, as well as talent and influencer engagement for our clients. They will also have a strong vision for creating compelling content and will work closely with the creative team to identify and develop new and innovative ways to grow audience and engagement through breakthrough content across social platforms. In this role, the Director of Social Media will have the opportunity to grow and nurture a team of social media talent while collaborating with other departments to execute fully integrated campaigns within our full-service agency.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:


Integrated Strategy & Planning


  • Institute clear processes and planning frameworks in the department and throughout the agency as a hole to ensure future planning, seamless collaboration, and flawless execution across accounts
  • Work closely with our Paid Media team to identify and recommend strategies and content to put paid spend behind
  • Provide thought leadership and perspective on emerging technologies for adoption where appropriate, to keep the agency at the forefront of developments in digital content delivery
  • With support from our Business Intelligence team, oversee state of the art reporting and analysis of social and influencer campaigns, measuring and analyzing performance and actioning learnings to maximize effectiveness
  • Lead and collaborate on development of clients’ holistic integrated strategy across social media, influencers, and partnerships to achieve key objectives.
  • Oversee optimization and micro-optimization on content, plans, strategies and posts based on the latest data, algorithms and trends across all platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Youtube, and others that may emerge)
  • Oversee planning and execution of client social media strategy from end-to-end, including identifying goals and success metrics, planning, budgeting, creative development, content calendars and community management


Social Content Development


  • Identify relevant social media trends and translate into unique and ownable concepts for the brand
  • Propose new ways to create and distribute client content across the social and digital ecosystem, including virtual experiences, editorial partnerships, and brand media
  • In close partnership with Creative Services, oversee development and implementation of a broad range of content types including video, still imagery, and animations to be leveraged across a variety of social platforms
  • Provide thought leadership and perspective on emerging technologies for adoption where appropriate, to keep the agency at the forefront of developments in digital content delivery
  • Create community building and user generated content strategies that drive awareness and engagement for our clients
  • Drive ideation and innovation on social voice, storytelling, and content to bring our client’s brands to life
  • Ensure content strategies are scalable to client budget


Team leadership and collaboration


  • Identify, train, manage, nurture and level up social media talent and direct reports
  • Participate in new business opportunities, representing social as part of an integrated campaign
  • Act as a thought leader in the agency and industry – creating whitepapers, posts, and workshops about the latest and greatest trends in the social space
  • Train colleagues and advocate for social media initiatives and integration across agency departments and with our clients


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:


  • Minimum 5+ years professional experience in integrated or content marketing, social media, communications from a B2C perspective for entertainment, cultural or arts clients
  • A passion for entertainment and the arts
  • You are an avid creator, with a great visual eye and passion for curating and creating inspiring content
  • Agency experience is a benefit
  • Must have the ability to work in and around NYC
  • Highly creative and can develop new ideas to be a leader in the industry
  • A demonstrated ability to develop, coach, create focus and clarity in your team, communicate on an ongoing basis to provide context
  • A desire and drive to question the expected
  • Self-starter with a hands-on approach, good instincts for prioritization and the ability to work under a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Experience running best-in-class social media campaigns, understand the rapidly changing competitive market
  • A deep understanding of the creative process, and an ability to effectively collaborate with creative partners
  • You are passionate about social media and how influential different platforms can be in driving customer experience and desire

  • You have experience autonomously developing creative content for use on social media platforms, either independently or for previous client or employer
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, and an ability to influence stakeholders

WHAT WE OFFER:
  • Paid 4-week sabbatical with 10 years of service
  • 3 personal/mental health days per year
  • Minimum of 4 weeks paid parental leave, increasing with years of service (to a maximum of 12 paid weeks)
  • A competitive salary between $95,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience

  • Hybrid position: minimum three days per week in office

  • Student loan repayment assistance (or tuition assistance) up to $5,000 with 6 years of service
