Job Summary:

The primary role of the Research Analyst is to perform in-depth fundamental supply and demand analysis on industrial metal and precious metal commodities and develop quantitative valuation models to support the investment team. Fundamental commodity research experience and proven quantitative finance and statistics skills mandatory. Programming for data analytics (PYTHON, R, SQL, MATLAB, or similar) experience preferred but not required. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

• Develop, interpret and manage quantitative valuation models.
• Analyze/ monitor commodity and sector news quickly and concisely and convey information to portfolio managers and investment teams; write monthly and quarterly commentary.
• Perform fundamental supply and demand analysis on individual commodities within the industrial and precious metals sectors.
• Present and defend investment recommendations to portfolio managers.
• Travel to conferences/company meetings/ due diligence trips.

Minimum Requirements:

• A strong and persuasive communicator who conveys information clearly both in written and verbal form.
• Undergraduate and applicable post-graduate (MBA) degrees from well-regarded institutions is preferred.
• A strong investment vision and personal conviction.
• Proven capabilities in market and commodity analyses that are reflected in the quality of the Analyst’s written and oral communication.
• The capacity to thrive in a dynamic culture where investment professionals are challenged to consistently achieve optimal results.
• A self-assured and disciplined approach to investments, without arrogance or ego.
• Demonstrated experience in applying research to a commodity listed futures strategy.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commodity research, preferably with experience covering industrial and precious metals.
• Exceptional qualitative and quantitative research skills, with proven expertise in statistical analysis.
• A personal presence and presentation that will command the respect of colleagues as well as members of the investment community.
• A high level of innate curiosity and receptivity to fresh approaches to investments.

Working Hours:

• While normal work hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm, this position must be flexible with the understanding that work deadlines must be met and at times it is necessary to work off hours to complete the required project at hand.
• Some travel required.
