About the role:
The Energy team is part of our clients Global Sector Coverage which covers the energy value chain including oil & gas production, transport & storage, traditional and renewable power generation, and new energy technologies (CCUS, batteries and hydrogen). As an Vice President for the Energy team based in New York, you will be responsible for:
New Deal Origination / Execution: Execute new business in coordination with Directors and MDs with an emphasis on Midstream & Downstream oil & gas and New Energy Technology transactions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing presentation materials for new financing opportunities, initial deal screening/selection and risk analysis, writing greenlight memos, performing due diligence, credit applications and ancillary documents, reviewing and/or negotiating financing documents and material project agreements, capital structuring or M&A transactions in the energy sector as well as assisting and managing the onboarding of clients/ borrowers, KYC, credit, industry & market analysis, building return and project finance debt models from scratch, and internal risk rating models.
Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of loan transactions as primary officer, which includes coordination with the respective relationship manager and the Transaction, Regulatory Function team (portfolio management team). Responsibilities include but are not limited to the review and quality control of the work of supporting junior staff that are allocated to the respective transaction as secondary officer and which are preparing and processing annual credit reviews, preparing and processing loan modification / amendment requests, tracking covenant compliance and maintaining internal portfolio tracking metrics, reviewing legal documentation, maintaining credit files and loan documentation, reviewing and processing borrowing and disbursement requests, interfacing with Risk Management, internal and external Legal and Loan Operations, and preparing periodic pipeline and profitability reports.
Requisite Skill Set:
- Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities
- Committed and dedicated team player, self-motivated high quality/high quantity producer
- In-depth knowledge of the power and renewables and/or midstream & downstream oil and gas project finance industry
- Familiarity with financing structures, tax equity, etc.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- At least 10+ years of working experience
- 6 - 8 years of relevant project/corporate finance experience ideally in the Midstream & Downstream oil & gas or general Energy industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Math; MBA is a positive
- Strong written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented and accurate
- Strong understanding of key financial markets and products
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint): Strong Excel skills and ability to independently work on financial debt projection models
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to manage, motivate and mentor junior staff members
- Understanding of corporate and bankruptcy law
- Strong financial modeling capabilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
