The Role:
As a Senior People Operations Partner, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, professional, and sound advice to leaders and members on day-to-day people and employment matters, and facilitate annual People programs. In this role, you will impact our business by using your expertise in talent management, performance management, career development, employee engagement, and workforce planning. As a trusted advisor to our business, you will support the day-to-day needs of our people and think holistically about how we focus on inclusive practices and continuously improve engagement with the firm.
Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
- Present information on People programs at staff meetings
- Coach, counsel and provide sound guidance to supervisors and team leaders on performance management, employee development, and employee engagement matters
- Conduct exit interviews and coordinate overall exit process with People Services team
- Lead and support employee wellbeing and contribute towards a healthy work culture that enhances Arup’s people experience
- Be an active member and/or lead[ People Team projects independently or in a team as part of your growth and development
- Provide advisory support to managers to help them to optimally deliver feedback, have development conversations and manage overall performance
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Centers of Expertise to deliver seamless client service
- Support programs that integrate Equity, Diversity & Inclusion into all aspects of our People Strategy
- Work closely with People Business Partners to ensure appropriate escalation and awareness of complex or high-risk people issues within the business
- Manage the delivery and coordination of annual activities such as performance appraisals, promotions, and salary review process
- Develop meaningful partnerships with supervisors and staff through consultation on People practices
- Create and use People analytics to inform leaders of trends that impact the business and develop forward-thinking solutions
- Work with cross functional teams and connect regularly with peers to drive consistent practices and drive quality outcomes
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Psychology or related field
- Ability to build relationships across geographies quickly both face to face and virtually (over the phone, Microsoft Teams, etc)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of CA employment law preferred
- Solid understanding of policies, practices, employment and employee relations frameworks and the ability to use sound judgment and discretion in their application
- Professional qualification, i.e. PHR, SPHR, sHRBP preferred
- Experience working in a consultative manner within a matrixed organization
- Successful record of building and maintaining trusted relationships with clients and ability to reach agreements which balance the goals and interests of leaders, staff and Arup
- 6 or more year of dynamic HR experience, with at least three years’ experience in a Generalist or People Partner role

- Self-aware, understands their role in the team and takes ownership for own actions
- Must be proactive, with the ability to engage with leadership to create strategies and delivery methods for solutions to important business issues
- Ability to remain calm and motivated under pressure
Hiring Range: The good faith base salary hiring range for this job performed in California is $90,000 and $125,000. Benefits are not included in the base salary range. Summary of benefits are included in this posting with details provided to applicants at the time of interview Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of California will differ.
