Job Description
Role Summary: The Senior Director People Practices is responsible for all aspects of People Practices (Human Resources) supporting MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. The ideal candidate will have a broad and deep knowledge of the Human Resources function. This position will work closely with the Lead Business Partner and SVP, People Practices to provide results oriented leadership, strategic council and best practices to the management team and employee group. They will also provide guidance to the business and employees on company policy, practices, state/federal employment laws, conducts internal investigations, and supports the business with employee & labor relations matters. The candidate will utilize the support of the larger corporate HR team and rely on functional leaders of People Practices (Benefits, Compensation, Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition) to develop and execute Human Resources strategies and goals that align with the needs of the business. Collaboration is key to success. Additionally, this role will review trends, reporting on themes and make recommendations towards process improvement which may result in enhanced training, changes to job descriptions, role clarity, etc. Specific Functions/Activities Summary:
  • Deliver results-oriented leadership through best practices and processes that provide necessary strategic execution of People Practices plans across a variety of HR disciplines.
  • Work with Compliance to evaluate and ensure Nevada compliance with the overall People Practices discipline as it relates to EEO guidelines, company policy, employment background investigations, and drug testing.
  • Partner with People Development to: implement training programs that promote employee excellence, incorporate a development mindset into the leadership philosophy of the brand and lead the execution of action plans to engage and develop talent and provide employees with development opportunities, and ensure that they are able to meet current and future performance standards.
  • Works with legal in preparation and participation in negotiations, interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements (CBA), implementing strategies, policies, procedures and ensuring compliance with other applicable legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the onboarding of all new hires as well, the resignation process which includes sending initial resignation email, processing the term profile, confirming vacation payout with manager, scheduling and conducting an exit interview and coordinating off boarding efforts.
  • Advance organizational design that supports communication, productivity, and innovation as well as create a working environment whereby employees are able to deliver results more effectively.
  • Collaborate with Sphere business stakeholders to understand key business initiatives to effectively support and align People Practices requirements specific to the discipline of HR.
  • Partner with all areas of People Practices to push innovation into every aspect of the way we work, and to drive process improvement and systems integration to enhance the employee experience and build a best in class work environment:
  • Encourages a strong leadership and coaching culture permeating throughout division business groups.
  • Manages day to day employee & labor relations matters, attends labor management meetings, coordinates responses to union grievances and follows up on general information requests.
  • Act as a liaison between the employee group and People Practices ensuring HR services and offerings are aligned with employee needs.
  • Measure and evaluate the impact of programs and initiatives through metrics, budgets and enhance fact-based decision making.
  • Accountable for case management, progress reporting, accurate and timely documentation and tracking of all internal investigations.
  • Along with the appropriate People Practices team, manage the roll-out of performance management, reward & recognition programs, engagement survey, annual budget process and training programs.
  • Support divisional leaders in forecasting and planning their diversified/inclusive talent pipeline requirements which are in line with business strategy and organizational change.
  • Connect with the organization to monitor and assess the level of People Practices impact, influence and partnership within the organization and work with key stakeholders to ensure there is alignment in the delivery of quality services.
Qualifications:
  • The candidate must have experience working in a satellite environment as an HR professional in a human resources department
  • Minimum of 8-12 years relevant hands-on progressive management experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Labor Relations (CBA) and conflict resolution in a hospitality operation, retail or customer service industry required.
  • Exposure/experience working alongside C-Suite Executives and comfortable managing in a matrixed organization.
  • Thrive in a fast paced, multi-tasking, deadline driven environment that advocates and supports a change management philosophy.
  • Experience in developing and implementing programs and policies that support transformational change, change management, organizational growth and employee development.
  • Proficient in technology and the use of case management systems.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of employment and human resources related federal and state laws, regulations, policies, principles including but not limited to NLRB, Title VII, EEO, FMLA, ADA, Unemployment & Worker’s Compensation concepts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Must be analytical, have excellent interpersonal/persuasion skills, verbal & written communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience supporting, facilitating a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
  • Customer experience focus and mindset; ability to understand business challenges and to create solutions that positively impact the way people perform.
  • Knowledge of Oracle HCM Human Resources system and ICIMS Applicant Tracking System preferred


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred, not required*
  • Travel may be required - up to 25%.
  • Ability to monitor company email and respond to employee emergencies, time sensitive matters or communicate with senior level stakeholders is essential.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays required. Must be available and flexible 24/7.
