Job Role – Remote Career Planning Support Specialist
Work Location – Remote
Duration: One year, extendable
Position overview: The Remote Career Planning Support Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to nonprofit agencies ("NPAs") participating in the Client’s Program.
This role requires the provision of labor, supervision, facilities, materials, and equipment to develop and recommend career planning support resources.
The primary responsibilities include Development of Employment Support Components: Develop and recommend the necessary components for employment supports, including job individualizations, person-centered employment plans, and career advancement programs (as defined below).
1. Qualifications Assessment: Identify the required qualifications and competencies of professionals engaged in the development and delivery of employment support.
2. Resource Identification: Identify qualified professionals, funding sources, and potential community partners that can assist in providing employment support for Client-NPAs.
The key objectives of this position are:
1. Job Individualization Components: Develop components of job individualizations, which involves personalizing the employment relationship between participating employees and NPAs to meet their specific needs. This includes identifying individual capacities, interests, goals, and reasonable accommodations or job supports necessary for employee success.
2. Person-Centered Employment Plan Components: Develop components of person-centered employment plans. These plans involve active employee participation in plan development, identification of strengths, employment service needs, and desired employment outcomes. It may also include benefits counseling, including SSDI, SSI, VA, work incentives, tax incentives, and financial literacy for people with disabilities. Additionally, capacity-building efforts for providers in this area will be required.
3. Career Advancement Program Components: Develop components of career advancement programs. These programs aim to implement an employee's person-centered employment plan to support upward mobility within Client’s employers and outward mobility of employees. This may involve the use of talent acquisition portals and other technology solutions.
4. Methodology for Qualified Evaluators: Develop a methodology for qualified evaluators to work with employees who are blind or have significant disabilities in developing their person-centered employment plans. Ensure effective and timely conversations with such employees and gather data evidence of these interactions.
5. Qualifications of Professionals: Identify the necessary qualifications and competencies of professionals who will provide job individualizations, develop person-centered employment plans, and implement these plans through a career advancement program.
6. Resource Identification: Identify potential sources, including companies, nonprofit organizations, academia, etc., that can supply qualified professionals. Additionally, explore government or alternative funding sources for the hiring of qualified professionals.
7. Community Partners: Identify potential community partners capable of facilitating and providing expertise in the development and implementation of employment support programs, including job individualizations, person-centered employment plans, and career advancement programs, for Client’s employees nationwide or in specific regions across the country.
8. Training Analysis: Analyze existing training sources, evaluate training content and quality, and recommend a program-specific training program and its components for qualified professionals and NPAs. This training program should encompass job individualizations, person-centered employment plans, and career advancement programs.
The Remote Career Planning Support Specialist will manage all aspects of this role, coordinating and executing tasks remotely. Effective communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders are essential for success in this role.
All work for this position will be conducted remotely. The Specialist must have the necessary equipment and a reliable internet connection to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
