Position - Career Development Advisor
Location - USA
The Career Development Advisor (CDA) acts as a personalized advisor to guide Career Center participants in building skills, networking, and discovering potential career paths within MRL. By leveraging available learning resources and connections with the Career Navigators, they play a pivotal role in guiding the participants to the most appropriate resources. They play an important role in the execution of the Career Center strategies.
The responsibilities of the CDA include, but are not restricted to the following:
- Offers learning resources and solutions for the participants’ issues or areas of opportunities
- Charts a course for individual development based on assessment insights
- Partners with participants to implement proactive steps that will enable them to improve their skill levels to achieve their career goals
- Partners with participants to establish and implement a continuous learning plan
- Brokers opportunities (e.g., gigs, projects, special assignments) for participants by introducing them to other departments and groups outside of their immediate department
- Partners with participants to end the coaching relationship in a way that honors the experience
- Serves a customer-facing role to address the development needs of MRL employees enrolled in the Career Center
- Partners with participants in a thought-provoking & creative process that assists them in establishing a career development plan
- Establishes agreements for the overall coaching engagement as well for each coaching session
- Challenges participants to explore potential development paths and encourages them to broaden their scope
- Conducts assessments of participants’ occupational interests, career aspirations, knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Partners with participants and relevant stakeholders to create clear agreements about the relationship, process, plans, and goals
- Connects the participants to appropriate Career Navigators

- Demonstrates organized and efficient tracking and recording of details as it relates to participant interactions, recommendations, action plans, and follow-ups
- Maintains confidentiality
- Creates recommend action plans (using MRL resources) based on employee goals
Qualifications
Minimum education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, Counseling/Social Work, or Education. Knowledge of the drug development industry is preferred but not required.
- Effective communicator.
- Ability to provide examples and effective solutions.
- Active listening and understanding.
- Ability to coach and advise career center participants using internal resources in a virtual environment.
- Organizational development and design experience.
- Credible experience working with individuals at a higher level.
- Culturally competent.
- Embodies a Mentoring Mindset to provide feedback in a constructive manner.
- 2-4 years of experience within an HR, Learning and Development, or Coaching department. Effective relationship/interpersonal skills.
- Must understand networking.
