We are looking for a Plant Manager Polysilicon base in India for our client, one of the biggest Indian companies, with more than 120,000 employees, in hydrocarbon exploration and production, petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail, and telecommunications. They are launching a Polysilicon factory near Mumbai.
Role :
Lead Polysilicon Operations on the Siemens technology platform during both engineering phase and steady state. Deliver product quality and quantity with safety as the top priority. Drive operational excellence to maintain industry leadership. Develop and deliver short-term and annual cost and production plans. Manage uncertainties in supply chain and logistics. Lead the entire operations organization with Lean Operations mindset. Maintain a high organizational morale and motivation at every level.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure that Safety is the number one priority and Quality comes before Volume.
- Own safe and productive plant commissioning and start-up. Lead the team to a stable steady state.
- Nurture ownership of formulating and implementing the operations plans.
- Understand supply chain and operations risks and develop risk mitigation plans to avoid surprises.
- Accountable for a comprehensive Operations delivery with 100% ownership.
- Deliver cost and performance that ensures attractive profitability.
- Develop and implement plan for steady state Polysilicon Operations. This plan must be risk adjusted with a high confidence level.
- Build Operations team from ground up. Attract, retain, and develop talent in the Operations organization. Train the organization and develop necessary skill sets to operate a new greenfield polysilicon plant.
- Lead Operations component of Basic Engineering and Detail Engineering.
- Develop a customer focused Operations mindset. Drive decisions based on value optimization.
- The plant manager should organize the resources and drive the activities impacting the top line and bottom line on both short-term and long-term basis.
- Introduce time tested as well as novel approaches to drive operational efficiency. Implement lean manufacturing and time-tested operations tools.
Requirements :
10-20 years of experience in the polysilicon or related Operations sector and minimum 5 years of experience in the polysilicon sector is preferred. Competence is preferred over just experience.
Necessary: B.S. in Engineering or Science
Desirable: B.S. (or higher) and MBA
- General understanding of the Renewable Energy domain to make proper decisions within a larger energy ecosystem.
- Ability to learn and lead. Assess risk and develop risk adjusted Operations plans
- A thorough understanding of critical unit operations such as Siemens CVD, hydrochlorination to produce TCS, and all chemical and mechanical unit operations required to produce high purity polysilicon. Familiarity with analytical methods to ensure quality of the product.
- Expertise in organization building and skill set development.
- Excellent leadership skills coupled with a strong commercial awareness that will impact and influence the performance and effectiveness
- Quantify commercial value to drive decisions. Operations risk must be always minimal.
- Experience in leading Six Sigma, FMEA, HAZID, HAZOP, and various relevant programs.
- Deep experience and competence in polysilicon Operations.
- Ability to lead Operations component of basic engineering and detail engineering. Ability to commission, start-up, and stabilise new polysilicon plants.
- Basic understanding of inventory management, Queuing theory, and cost of variability and uncertainty. Drive WIP and waste reduction.
