People Spaces Project Manager

What to Expect Tesla is seeking to hire a highly skilled Architectural Project Manager to lead the cross-functional execution of world-class interior people space projects at Tesla’s Gigafactory Campus in Austin, TX. In this role, you will drive collaboration between Architecture, Construction, and Engineering disciplines to own the engineering efforts for people spaces, workplaces, and public amenities on site from concept to execution and turnover. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture, construction, and project management, delivering beautiful and functional projects for industry-leading organizations on time and within budget.
What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain strong relationships with the various cross-functional teams to ensure overall program alignment
• Define strategies for design and engineering deliverables including construction and permit packages.
• Organize and manage design reviews, construction design packages and deliverables to support all aspects of construction, including scope of work, kick-off, MDR, 30%, 60%, 90%
• Distill, document, and manage scope effectively to support highly dynamic environment. Manage all aspects of technical planning, scope development, change management, programming, design, and engineering services during construction.
• Manage customer requests and fundamentally understand stakeholder’s requirements to translate into project deliverables.
• Identify engineering resource requirements and highlight gaps across various stages for all projects.
• Understand lean construction principles and fully integrated design using BIM. Implement innovative engineering and design methodologies to support very aggressive program and construction schedules.
• Coordinate project schedule with construction team based on Procurement and Construction requirements for the overall schedule success of the project.
• Manage permitting and construction documents including transmittals and RFI’s.
• Own the full engineering efforts for construction from concept to delivery to meet our aggressive goals.
• Own project funding request process in collaboration with construction team.
• Understand different project delivery methods including design bid build, integrated project development, and fast track projects.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience interfacing with MEP. Fully understanding all engineering disciplines and be able to demonstrate skills to manage engineering resources
• Subcontractor and third party consulting firm management experience
• 10+ years experience managing multi-disciplinary projects within A/E firms
• Advanced project management skills, demonstrated application of project and program management fundamentals to complex engineering problems
• Positive, enthusiastic, fast learner, can-do mindset and passionate about building complex infrastructure. Construction Project Management experience is a plus
• Proven record in delivery of IFB, IFP and IFC packages
• Experience working with AHJ’s and be able to build strong relationship with local jurisdictions
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Architecture
• Excellent communication and documentation skills with ability to understand complex problems and distill the message into a clear plan. Ability to effectively execute many projects and tasks in parallel
