Manager, Technical Program Management

The FinTech Group, along with our business partners in Finance, have made it their mission to deliver a world-class payment experience while maintaining the integrity of HubSpot’s financial reporting systems. This team is at the hub of a wide variety of cross-team initiatives that aim to better tie together individual Product and Engineering teams to accomplish their larger, more team-oriented goals. Program management at HubSpot is a bit different than at most other companies. As opposed to a role that dictates how teams should execute initiatives, our project managers rely on relationships and organization knowledge to help teams accomplish more through collaboration. They promote trust by helping teams navigate the complex waters of cross-team efforts.

In This Role You’ll Get To

• Establish FinTech-wide priorities in collaboration with Product Line leadership, and report on progress on quarterly cadence
• Work with FinTech Product Line Leadership on how FinTech operates effectively across 3 groups, 18 product teams, and 100+ team members
• Represent FinTech in company-wide scoping, discovery, and planning conversations for strategic initiatives
• Coach and develop TPMs on all life cycles of project delivery, including discovery, execution, measurement and analysis
• Foster collaboration through developing relationships across the Product & Engineering Team, and other HubSpot business units
• Partner with analysts in Product Operations to define and track success metrics for FinTech-wide priorities
• Manage a team of Technical Program Managers who work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Engineers and cross-functionally with Legal, Business Enablement, Marketing, Sales, Services and other stakeholders to develop project requirements, goals, and milestones
• Manage performance of TPMs, including providing feedback, recognition, growth areas, and career planning
• See the big picture, help processes scale and teams become more efficient
• Collaborate with partners across HubSpot on strategic planning across disciplines, including Product & Engineering, Central Operations, Go-to-Market, Finance, and Legal
• Gain a strong understanding of HubSpot’s Product and Engineering organizational structure & culture
• Develop repeatable processes and best practices that foster collaboration and a flexible approach to project management

We Are Looking For People Who Have

• Comfortable working in a variety of project management tools (to include GitHub, JIRA, BigPicture, Google docs, Asana, and our internal wiki)
• Proven experience in technical project management and people management
• Demonstrated leadership in an ambiguous space
• A deep desire to learn (each new project is an opportunity to learn more about our team, product, company, and industry)
• A knack for detail-oriented work and great time management
• Comfortable working in uncharted territory (there’s no “one-size-fits-all” success model)
• Ability to manage team members at various stages of career
• A high level understanding of software, or past experience working with a technical team in the cloud or infrastructure space
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent collaborator and proven passion for goal oriented work
• Ability to multi-task (i.e. juggle several projects at once)
