The growing “sharing economy” trend has turned the outdoor equipment industry on its head.
With fewer people purchasing and owning outdoor equipment - equipment brands, retailers, and even local governments are scrambling to create convenient and affordable rental experiences to facilitate the public’s participation in outdoor sports.
Rent.Fun is a self-service recreational equipment rental platform that it makes it easy to roll out equipment rental programs, with no staff required.
We manufacture, deploy, and operate app-connected rental lockers in popular outdoor spaces that enable anyone to rent equipment on demand, right at the point of use, with a touch a button on the rent.fun mobile app.
Our first product is a self-service kayak rental station (think kayak vending machine) that uses bluetooth and cellular technology to enable the public to scan a qr code and unlock and rent a kayak by the waters edge.
Our initial focus is on local governments - helping small and mid-sized cities launch new recreational programs without having to dedicate staff.
Less than 24 months months after going to market, we’ve launched 50 kayak rental stations in premier waterfront parks across 15 states, under exclusive operating agreements with local governments and state park systems.
To ensure that each and every location is profitable, we’ve created 2 independent and profitable revenue streams – service fees from the local governments that pay us to provide the rental service to the public, and rental fees generated from consumers who rent our equipment.
Now that we have established product market fit with our kayak rental station, we are in process of expanding this concept to all other forms of recreational equipment – lawn games, beach wheelchairs, mountain bikes, etc. - and plan to roll these new product lines out to the government, hospitality, and real estate verticals over the next 5 years.
THE JOB
You will not have to prospect or create your own sales opportunities.
Rather, our business development team will set appointments for you with potential customers, and then you will be responsible for running the customer meetings on Zoom.
On each customer meeting, you will be expected to:
- Take rigorous notes (or record your calls and use AI-generated transcripts) to and update our CRM (Hubspot).
- Follow-up with the customer via email after each meeting and suggest next steps
- Answer customer questions
- Conduct discovery (ask questions) to understand the customer’s goals, needs, and timelines
- Conduct demos and presentations
You will be supported by our CEO and a 3 person BDR team currently generating 50 - 70 meetings per month.
Believe us when we say — your calendar will be booked.
This is a remote first position. You can work from anywhere you have internet connection. Travel requirements are minimal - maybe one customer visit per quarter.
THE METRICS:
- Generate a demo:sale conversion rate of 15% or higher
- ACV of $18,000
- Run 60 demos per month with government customers (95% of demos will be booked for you and qualified by SDRs).

COMPENSATION
- Base Salary is $50,000
- Unlimited PTO.
- OTE is $75,000
MUST HAVES
- You are comfortable presenting to large groups of people
- Demonstrated experience / interest in start-ups.
- Experience in selling products with a $5,000 - 30,000 ACV
- Bachelor's Degree from 4-year university
- Interested in refining your sales skills and building a career in technology sales.
- Very strong writing skills
- You understand business and finance fundamentals.
- You know how to manage a calendar and run virtual meetings (zoom, etc.)
- Youhave experience working at a start up
- Enjoy outdoor recreation and would like to promote it in communities
- Very strong discovery, demo, and closing skills
