GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Human Resources (HR) Coordinator is responsible for providing first class customer service to employees at all levels of the organization. The HR Coordinator carries out responsibilities in various aspects of human resources including recruitment, new hire orientation, onboarding/off-boarding, benefits, compliance, talent management, leave of absence (LOA) tracking.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
  • Support special projects.
  • Answer general employee benefits questions and receiving and forwarding group insurance payments as required for auditing purposes.
  • Respond to EDD, State Disability, and other government agency inquires.
  • Providing Human Resources reports to management.
  • Establish and Maintain effective working relationships with (and between) employees, supervisors and managers. Maintain relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Promote and foster an environment of open communication and honest, candid feedback.
  • Provide daily headcount report to HR & labor management and works with HR Manager & Labor Manager and Generalist on recruitment to fill open positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Administration of the hourly employment personnel files, with focus on the up-to-date information and file security.
  • Coordinate leaves of absence, in conjunction with vendor, working closely with employees and managers. Maintain accurate records and reports of all leaves of absence.
  • Assist HR and Labor management with preparing documentation and reports for any labor or employee related issues that may arise.
  • Enter all personnel changes including crew assignment, locations, changes in states for correct tax reporting, wage profile, job class codes both union and non-union hourly employees.
  • Provide customer service to employees that come into the HR office.
  • EEO/Affirmative Action Plan data tracking for all hourly positions.
  • Maintain seniority list based on department and location seniority.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State labor and discrimination laws (e.g. Department of Labor, EEOC, Wage and Hour, ADA, etc.).
  • Compliance with EEO goals and objectives, and management of the employment data base.
  • Coordination of the hourly employment process and new hire packet administration, including pre-employment processing of applicants (screening, referencing, I-9 verification) and completion of written employment verification.
  • Data entry of new hires, transfers, separations etc. in ADP as required.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and onboarding follow-up.
  • Process hourly job requisitions including posting, qualifying, and processing employee promotions and transfers.
  • Follow all food safety requirements and GMP’s as applicable for this position.
Required Skills
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
  • Bi-lingual Spanish / English both oral and written required.
  • 1 - 3 years minimum of human resources experience, preferably in the produce industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently; ability to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Some payroll and benefits knowledge a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills emphasizing teaching ability with large groups.
  • Form I-9 verification and EEO compliance experience.
  • Proven ability to track and manage leaves of absences
  • Must have the ability to make decisions, be punctual, follow direction, maintain confidentiality, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism.
  • Strong computer skills, including Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and HRIS.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 25 lbs. Must be able to walk on uneven grounds.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends if required.
  • Ability to travel to all locations within CA and AZ
Required Experience
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • College degree or equivalent in related field is preferable, but not required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • HR certificate desirable
PAY RATE:
  • $22.00 - $25.00 an Hour
