An opportunity to make transplantation and transfusion safer and more efficient has opened with the dynamic ICCBBA team to communicate on the need for and benefits of the ISBT 128 Standard.
After almost 30 years and with facilities in almost 80 countries registered to use the ISBT 128 Standard, ICCBBA helps ensure that critical data is transmitted consistently and accurately. To build on this success, ICCBBA is recruiting a Global Development Manager responsible for leading ICCBBA’s communications and marketing strategy in support of ICCBBA’s mission to achieve global adoption of the ISBT 128 Standard worldwide.
The Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders and partners to gather information on Medical Products of Human Origin (blood, cells, organs, tissues, etc.) use across the world, identify opportunities for collaboration and respond to users’ needs through delivering clear communications and educational content to users and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Your contribution to the team:
- Apply your education and experience in communications and/or marketing to enhance patient safety by making ISBT 128 more visible and better understood by the widest audience possible.
- Use your leadership skills to build consensus and find solutions to complex challenges.
- Support ICCBBA’s relationship-building with MPHO stakeholders and technology providers.
- Provide direction to the Global Development team located in Redlands, CA.
- Able to travel internationallyfor around 30 days per year

Summary
- The Global Development Manager is responsible for leading ICCBBA’s communications and marketing strategy in support of ICCBBA’s mission to achieve global adoption of the ISBT 128 Standard worldwide.
- The Manager will perform managerial tasks as necessary to support ICCBBA’s operations.
- The Manager will have a good understanding of cultural differences and sensitivities in various regions of the world.
- The Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders and partners to identify opportunities for collaboration, identify users’ needs, and support the development of new standards.
- The Manager will be responsible for managing projects related to the organization's global development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Promotion of ISBT 128 and stakeholder interactions
- Facilitate ICCBBA’s interactions and collaboration with key stakeholders internationally, both internal and external, including users and technology solutions providers, other non-profit organizations, standards development organizations, government agencies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and related professional associations.
- Conduct market research and analysis on global trends and developments to identify potential new markets and opportunities for the organization including:
- Support ICCBBA’s strategies to increase the adoption of the organization's technical standards worldwide.
- Represent the organization internationally at industry events and conferences, and participate in relevant committees and working groups, both internal and external.
- Develop and deliver presentations and training sessions on the organization's services including high-level introduction to the ISBT 128 Standard to internal and external audiences internationally.
- Lead the development, coordination, and maintenance of ICCBBA’s marketing and communications channels, both digital and in-person, in coordination with other departments.
- Acquire and maintain information regarding global MPHO usage based on authoritative sources of data that can be used to measure the take-up of ISBT 128.
Internal Support
- Support the Technical and Standards Development Departments as needed.
- Write policies and procedures and provide appropriate training to others.
- Be aware of ICCBBA interests, needs, and concerns, as expressed in the Mission Statement, Strategy, and Annual Plan, and ensure these are addressed in work activities.
- Manage projects related to global development initiatives, including coordinating with project teams and ensuring the timely completion of deliverables.
- Deliver user-focused services.
- Work within the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework.
Management
- Ensure that the Global Development department operates in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Efficiently manage the day-to-day Global Development workload.
- Participate in the ICCBBA Management Team.
- Supervise Global Development staff.
Quality
- Ensure that the Global Development department activities operate within the Quality System.
Personal Development
- Maintain an awareness of developments in the fields of transfusion and transplantation and healthcare data informatics, and their implications for the ISBT 128 Standard.
Working Relationships
- Work in close collaboration with the Directors, Management Team, and other staff.
- Report to the Executive Director.
