Job Description

Department: Marketing

Reports to: Regional Director, North America

Job Location: Hybrid: Remote Monday & Friday; DTLA Office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday


Position Summary: The Manager, Global Tourism Development will work directly with the Regional Director, North America to maintain Los Angeles Tourism’s travel trade programs as it relates to the promotion of Los Angeles as a travel destination. These programs include tradeshows, familiarization tours, agent training, client events and other initiatives for the travel trade industry. We are seeking a highly detail-oriented, flexible individual who is a comfortable handling everything from soup to nuts, juggling multiple projects simultaneously, with strong communication skills (written and verbal). Local travel around Los Angeles and some domestic travel (primarily West Coast) is required. Occasional evenings and weekends also required due to the nature of events.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed in order of importance:

1. Manage the planning and execution of a Receptive Tour Operator strategy to expand product offerings and create compelling trade itineraries. - 30%

2. Attend and manage assigned travel trade events (virtual and in-person). Carry out the planning and follow up activities resulting from these events to grow market share and increase length of stay and spend. - 25%

3. Manage and contribute to the development and maintenance of travel trade marketing material and content for b2b website, online training platform, presentations, fact sheets, e-newsletters and social media. - 15%

4. Administer and maintain the CRM database for assigned accounts/markets. - 15%

5. Manage and cultivate strong working relationships with stakeholders, destination suppliers and travel trade partners. - 5%

6. Assist with the development, implementation and fulfilment of marketing programs (e.g., co-ops, partnerships and agreements). - 5%

7. Conduct in-person and virtual presentations, trainings and sales calls. - 5%



OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

8. Support of international offices and activities.

9. Perform other related duties as may be required or assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred and a minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience required.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and be able to drive a vehicle for work-related travel as needed and as applicable to the position. Must be willing to partake in a comprehensive background check including a drug test in accordance with applicable laws.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS – ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL TASKS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, move. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, pull, push, transport and/or move up to 40 pounds. Ascends and/or descends stairs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. Requires prolonged sitting, driving, some bending, some twisting neck and body, some stooping and stretching/reaching (up, down, out), requires grasping, feeling, and detecting, requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, mouse, photocopier, fax machine, telephone, calculator, projector, screen for presentations, and other office equipment on a repetitive basis. Requires normal range of hearing, talking, and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and information.


  • Must be able to fly on an airplane and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift, roll luggage or equipment for work-related travel.
  • Must be able to get in and out of a vehicle on a regular basis while traveling for work.
  • Must be able to drive long distances and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Reliable transportation.


COMPENSATION RANGE:

Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.

$70,000 - $85,000
