This is an entry-level position that works closely with the Project Management team and is mentored by assigned senior staff member in order to gain working knowledge and experience in project management. As a project manager trainee, the position will provide administrative support to the Project Team, assisting with projects, research and analysis, planning studies, and technical planning.

Essential Duties
- Maintain electronic project folders and update drawings as requested by project management staff.
- Under mentorship of project management staff member, will solicit input from and coordinate needs of project stakeholders to provide long term benefits to the University community.
- Assist project management staff member in planning and coordinating project committee meetings and preparing contract documents and project document tracking.
- Assist the Project Team in conducting rigorous needs assessments to develop architectural programs and space plans that meet their functional requirements. These efforts will be coordinated with various groups on campus including the Office of the University Architect (OUA), Capital Programs Management Group (CPMG), Facilities Management (FACMAN) and other colleges and schools.
- Work with project team members and representatives of the academic and research units within The College.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- The candidate will assist in development of preliminary layouts and budget estimates to test the feasibility of these plans; propose and communicate new space plan alternatives using AutoCAD; run database queries and reports to evaluate space utilization as well as generate baseline space requirements for academic units; collect technical data for scientific equipment, media equipment and systems used in tenant spaces; review construction documents and shop drawings for compliance with original design intent; administer contracts for minor facility improvements, furnishings and replacement of equipment and facilitate moves.
- The successful candidate will support the Project Team by coordinating and participating in project management processes and documentation.
- Under direction of project management staff member(s), perform incidental project management including: Programming, space planning, predesign studies, test fits, research, analysis and implementation of deliverables/action items, and maintain tracking of action items and follow up with the team to ensure timely reply and/or action.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Technology/Science, Engineering, Network Infrastructure Technology/Science, Construction Management, Facilities Management or related field; OR any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in using project management tools (e.g., Blue Beam, AutoCAD/Revit).
- Demonstrated knowledge of project delivery methods (e.g., Design-bid-build, Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Job-order-contracting, Design Build).
- Experience in conducting research into project-related issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various architectural, planning and engineering disciplines.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management.
- Evidence of effective communication.
- Experience with AutoCAD, preparing and making presentations, contract document preparation or construction experience. (6 months to 1-year) (relevant experience during undergrad or graduate educational program, summer breaks or internships will be considered).
- Experience in attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Working Environment
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
- Hybrid remote work will be considered upon completion of the training period. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
- Occasional field work which requires accessing paved, rocky or uneven areas and exposure to dirt, dust, extreme temperatures and inclement weather
