STONE AND STRAND is looking for an experienced Purchasing, Production and Operations Senior Manager or Director who will serve as a right-hand to Founder/CEO to lead the day-to-day operations across the company, including direct management of production, shipping and fulfillment, product development, and oversee the planning and purchasing of our goods. This role additionally includes the direct management of our select wholesale accounts, taking orders from our partners, putting them into production, and ensuring timely shipment when
complete.

This is a key leadership role within the company, with opportunity for growth and professional development.The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, high-touch team leader, with past experience in a hands-on role in a fast-growing start up environment. We are looking for someone who is highly quantitative, unusually resourceful, takes extreme ownership, motivated, exceptionally organized, and detail oriented.
Responsibilities and Duties
Hire, manage and coach production, product development, operations and purchasing team members and functions
- Spearhead strategic planning, forecasting and budget processes
- Create merchandising plans and forecasts
- Set quantitative yearly and quarterly performance goals for the team
- Lead a growing team of four employees
- Identify core KPIs and track metrics on a consistent basis
Oversee the end-to-end workflow of all items from prototyping to production
- Adopt a continuous improvement mindset with regards to the production processes
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and expand our sourcing and production network as required by business needs
- Ensure the highest quality standards are rigorously applied to all of our products
- Identify core production capabilities to bring inhouse over time and build our overall expertise across different areas of design and manufacturing
Lead day-to-day operations across the company, including direct management of shipping and fulfillment (including repairs and returns), customer service, production, finance and accounting
- Conduct strategic reviews of our cost base to ensure optimum efficiency
- Lead inventory stock takes and ensure management of all inventory in our systems
- Manage inventory levels and ensure coordination of inventory across all departments
Spearhead purchasing, product merchandising strategy and execution across the company
- Analyze sales data to make merchandising and purchasing decisions on a regular basis
- Track purchase / production orders to ensure timely delivery and payment
- Place purchase / production orders and generate Pos for vendors on a regular basis
- Assess costs across the supply chain and make strategic recommendations as needed
- Build models to forecast inventory requirements that accommodate growth
Collaboratively define and provide support to the CEO and other senior team members with the overall planning, goal setting, and performance management across the broader company
Prepare company performance metrics for board meetings and investor presentations
Manage legal function of the company, working directly with outside counsel when needed
Weekend and holiday work (Thanksgiving and Christmas) may be required as part of this role
Qualifications and Skills
- Accountable by nature and able to take complete ownership for a complicated task
- 5+ Years of experience in production or product development related area required
- 3+ Years of team management experience required with an eagerness to mentor, educate, and direct
- Energetic and highly motivated, able to work at a very fast pace
- Resourceful with the ability to take on projects that haven’t been done before
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Familiarity with production software preferred e.g., Rhino, Photoshop, etc.
- GIA certification preferred
- 3+ years of professional experience in operations at a fast-growing company
- Process oriented with an exceptional level of attention to detail
- USA work authorization required
- Engineering background a plus
- Experience in jewelry industry required
Our compensation ranges from $90,000-$125,000 annually. Compensation is based on skill level and experience.
