Job Description
The position reports to the Director of North American Opportunity and Business Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving revenue goals within the North America Commercial Segment (Pharma / Biotech). The position requires an individual with demonstrated knowledge of JAX technical products and services used in life sciences basic research and the role of mouse models in drug discovery in particular. This is a senior business development role requiring a demonstrated ability to build and expand client relationships at the highest levels that result in increased utilization of JMCRS products and services. Many of these accounts are life science companies including leading pharma and biotech organizations.

While many accounts in the commercial biomedical space are currently purchasing from JMCRS, management believes there is significant opportunity to both develop deeper relationships within these organizations and provide a broader range of products and services as well as grow business in uncaptured markets. This individual judged by the ability to meet revenue goals, develop client relationships at the senior levels, introduce business growth in uncaptured markets and expand the use of JMCRS products and services throughout the client organization. The incumbent will also work to establish formal strategic alliances that secure the delivery of JMCRS Products & Services to customers for the full breadth of research and service offerings over longer periods of time by taking a programmatic selling approach where the ultimate goal is a strong partnership where both JAX’s and the client’s programs are closely aligned. These alliances may take the form of long term purchasing agreements and/or collaborative research agreements. They will offer “voice of customer” guidance to Business Unit Managers, and new product development leaders that may also include new business and/or service models (not previously offered by JMCRS) which are better aligned with the needs of the Commercial segment and in some cases even with specific pharma or biotech organizations.

In addition to this externally focused work, this individual will also be responsible for supporting the development of additional strategic initiatives within the Sales/Marketing group. Working in conjunction with Marketing, Analytics, TIS and others JMCRS groups - this individual will be expected to provide insights into the development of metrics and programs which enable JMCRS, individual ODMs/BDs and others in customer facing roles to increase JAX engagement and sales with the Commercial segment. This could include the development of new or expanded Sales/Marketing initiatives, on-site scientific programs specifically targeting the commercial market segments. It will include innovative approaches to trade shows and scientific symposia’s / conferences which will increase the visibility of JMCRS science and technology and drive increased engagement with the Commercial segment at these events.

In support of their overarching commercial strategy, the individual will oversee up to 4 Business Development Directors located across North America who work closely with field based Opportunity Development Managers. The individual will provide direct leadership for these Business Development Directors.

The salary range is $133,785 - $223,986. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
