Position - Category Manager
Area - Walmart & Sam’s Club
Reports to - Director Walmart & Sam’s Club
I. POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the development of business insights and selling assets that are used to support the objectives of the sales organization. Position will translate category sales information into actionable insights for Walmart & Sam’s Club, supporting growth of the categories in which AlEn competes.
II. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Sales Support
· Develop impactful category analyses and consumer insights using a range of syndicated and non-syndicated data sources
· Synthesize learnings from various sources to create clear and powerful selling stories for Line Reviews in a visually appealing manner using PowerPoint
· Effectively educate internal stakeholders on growth opportunities through clear and concise communications
· Utilize space planning software to create visual assets that support our brand marketing strategies
· Provide input into customer planning cycle based on knowledge of category and shopper trends, competitive issues, etc.
· Support Retail Execution and Marketing Team with fact-based reporting
B. Retailer Support
· Build strong relationship with Walmart & Sam’s Club as trusted Category Advisor across categories in which AlEn Brands compete
· Create Category Reviews that help inform retail buyers of their current situation, opportunities for growth, and best-in-class category strategies in the market as it relates to assortment, pricing/promotions, and shelving.
· Develop and communicate retailer-specific scorecards utilizing syndicated and/or retailer-provided data
· Utilize space planning software to create best-in-class shelving guidance
· Leverage capabilities within space planning software to measure space to sales
C. Strategy Development
· Assist in the development of category growth objectives
· Identify channel specific opportunities based on brand and category fundamentals
· Support Innovation team with data insights
· Support the development of the Category Vision and National selling stories
D. Leadership & Managing Talent
· Align and clearly communicate AlEn USA strategy, policies, and procedures.
· Participate with management in corporate succession planning activities.
III. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing, or related business area, or equivalent; MBA is a plus
· Minimum 5 years of experience working in the CPG industry in analytics/strategy such as insights, category management, business intelligence, sales management or related business area with proven analytical skills and computer proficiency
· Exceptionally proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
· Strong organization skills and a high level of detail orientation with proven project management capabilities including experience handling multiple key projects at a time
· Proficiency in Planogram software or similar systems
· Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Nielsen or IRI data.
· Strong working knowledge of POS, Panel, and Demographic data through Numerator, Spectra, Retail Link, 1010 data, Luminate, et al.
· Willingness to travel up to 20% is required
· In depth knowledge of consumer products, product mix impacts, and key retail sales metrics
· Candidate should have experience in presenting and influencing senior leaders within an organization
