JOB TITLE: National Account Manager – Walmart

DEPT/LOCATION: Sales Office, Bentonville

REPORTS TO: National Account Director - Walmart


Key Internal Relationships: Sales VP, Marketing, Product Development, Finance, Supply Chain

Key External Relationships: Retail Buyers, Retail Marketing, Marketing Data Research data companies, approved retail groups, demo companies, Focus Groups companies


JOB PURPOSE: The National Account Manager is responsible for achieving sales and profit goals for PPI Corporate Business and is the single point of contact for retail customers. This role develops retailer strategy and then leads a cross functional team to execute, track, and adjust the retailer-specific business plan. This role is responsible for building strong retailer relationships and influencing key decision makers to drive mutually beneficial business opportunities, while being responsible for developing and fostering the business relationship with all key members at the retailer.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Achievement of targets. Monthly, quarterly, annual sales and profit targets.

· Ensure flawless implementation of all new product development and achievement of required distribution objectives.

· Prepare a joint business plan/strategy which will deliver the sales and profit growth in line with the company’s growth for each customer.

· Responsibility for the development, maintenance, and implementation of all administration.

· Preparing reviews for all accounts within his/her responsibility, including strategic planning and resource allocation to achieve account objectives.

· Build multi-level contacts and develop productive business relationships with external customers

· Manage and control all promotion expenditure within your responsibility in line with the company’s guidelines, to ensure an optimum return on investment.

· Develop and improve tools and systems to monitor the marketplace, our brands and competitor’s performance.

· Effectively collaborate and coordinate activity within internal departments, category, customer marketing, finance, and customer services to deliver company’s business priorities.

· Own and drive initiatives which deliver improved levels of customer service and satisfaction.

· Responsibility for ensuring identified expenses are kept within budgeted guidelines and completed on time as required by company policy.

· Ensure personal developments by implementing agreed training and development objectives

· Lead Category Sales Development to achieve sales goals through mutually profitable business planning and execution.

· Drive Off-Shelf Promotional Programs to increase sales through off-shelf promotional programs by developing profitable display features and winning feature space within retailer opportunities

· Share and Leverage Category Success Stories. Serve as “thought leadership” to the PPI Trade Marketing & Sales organization by regularly share product / category success stories to use with other retailers to drive incremental sales across the organization.

· Identify business opportunities through collaboration and optimize profitability through negotiation with retailer and PPI Marketing / PD organization. Translate those business opportunities into account-specific strategies and tactics that drive market share and growth.

· Integrate and analyze multiple data sources to create selling strategies and programs that deliver win-win outcomes through innovation and collaboration with the account team

· Connect, develop, and maintain relationships with key Retailer Organization contacts, including Buyers, Merchants, Modular Development, Replenishment, Transportation, and Logistics. Cultivate account relationships to understand customer needs and goals to capitalize on business opportunities

· Build rapport, communicate strategy, and negotiate with customer decision makers, resulting in increased distribution, shelving, merchandising, and improved marketing of PPI brands.

· Manage the financials, Opex, trade budget and deduction resolution. Develop and execute strategies to minimize Markdowns and avoid non-value-added expenses to PPI through strong negotiations.

· Analyze sales trends and supply chain efficiencies to make recommendations to maximize opportunities, while analyzing forecasting metrics and data to ensure accuracy targets are met.

· Track and report monthly forecast versus actual POS reports, pro-actively addressing potential issues with logistics and inventory levels using monthly key performance indicators (fill rate, in-stock % and carrier on-time %).


QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's degree; Master’s degree a plus.

· 3+ years Supplier / Retailer experience in consumer package goods sales environment; cross functional a plus (Sales, Logistics, Analytics, Category)

· Walmart experience required

· Retailer systems experience in Retail Link required, Prospec and Global Sourcing a plus.
