The Category Manager is a key leader within Cornerstone Building Brands’ Strategic Sourcing team and is responsible for creating and driving sourcing value for the glass and related window products spend categories. This person will collaborate with business unit and functional leadership to secure optimal contracted engagements for Cornerstone Building Brands.
This position will align internal customer needs with marketplace opportunities to optimize the procurement value proposition. The Category Manager will also assist in driving continuous improvement of related processes throughout Cornerstone Building Brands. This role is expected to provide expertise to business leaders in planning and implementing supply chain strategies to achieve business goals and objectives.
This is a fully remote role that will require 15-25% travel
- Demonstrates the ability to be an influential leader; effectively persuade others to listen, commit, and act on a new approach
- Conduct category spend analyses and reporting, supplier stratification, supply market and category industry research as well as coach category specialists to produce the same results for their respective areas
- Provide oversight and evaluate ethical procurement practices of contracted services and goods which includes compliance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations
- Uses knowledge of industry and market trends to develop and champion long-term category strategies
- Display leadership behaviors aligned with CBB values and success model to drive a culture that embodies safety, teamwork, innovation and integrity
- Strategically partner with business unit and functional leaders by providing subject matter expertise and best practice for sourcing opportunities
- Lead creation and implementation of sourcing and demand management strategies for assigned categories of spend, manage the development of RFx materials, detailed analysis of proposals and vendor capabilities, negotiations and supplier selection. Given its leadership role, this position will also perform player/coach for category specialists to produce the same results for their respective areas
- Build and manage relationships with business unit teams, to enable implementation of business strategies through team alignment, facilitate a sourcing process to coordinate those goals, and closely collaborate with teams to negotiate, contract, and award business to suppliers
- Lead the development and negotiation of contracts with new suppliers and/or renegotiate existing contracts to accomplish lowest total system cost, improve the services offerings, and evolve the function
- Demonstrates a strategic business mindset, influential leadership, organizational savvy, presents an executive-level presence, and balances multiple stakeholder interests simultaneously
- Develop advanced multi-year category strategies designed to anticipate enterprise-wide requirements while optimizing forecasted shifts in both supply markets, industry trends and supplier economic cycles
- Strategic mindset. Effectively presents complex topics in a concise manner to audiences at various levels and in various sizes
- Manages change, ambiguity, complexity and drives for results
Qualifications
- Requires the ability to lead a team and present and project a positive company image with vendors
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Requires expertise in operating Microsoft Office programs
- Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or equivalent work experience. MBA a plus
- Certifications preferred but not required: CPSM, PMP, Lean, and Six Sigma
- Ability to assess and recommend creative and time-sensitive solutions
- Advanced analytical ability and financial acumen
- Ability to drive change in a dynamic organization
- Strong organizational in addition to advanced project leadership and management skills
- 10+ years of supply chain experience required, 8 of which requires experience in strategic sourcing or category management in a Manufacturing environment
- Experience with category management in Glass or related spend areas highly desired
- Proven execution of core sourcing skills (negotiation, contracting) and ability to implement sourcing best practices
- Requires advanced customer service skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $135,000 to $165,000 + 15% Annual Bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
