Job Description
Position Title: Sales Director, Walmart
Location: Bentonville, AR
Reports to: SVP & GM, Walmart
Job Summary
This position will report directly to the SVP & GM for the Walmart business and will have responsibility for profitable growth at Walmart. Based in Bentonville, Arkansas, the Sales Director will primarily execute effective strategies to increase share, sales and profit. This leader will be responsible for maintaining the current base business while identifying and seizing new business opportunities. Additional responsibilities include maintaining strong account relationships and leading a team of cross functional internal stakeholders to successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead team of account managers and other sales personnel to develop and execute specific account strategies, operating plans, joint business plans (JBPs), holistic score-carding and business tracking
  • Network back into the business to inform future priorities and decisions
  • Own P&L responsibility for business across the Walmart account and manage all financials of account including margin, rebates, markdowns, etc.
  • Plan and execute large seasonal events across all related functions and teams (internally at Newell and externally at customer)
  • Advocate for Newell’s business externally and for Walmart internally
  • Maintain organizational agility and flexibility to deal with very dynamic environments
  • Lead line reviews and assortment planning as part of annual processes
  • Continually put efforts and focus into team building, talent development and succession planning
  • Lead customer participating in Integrated Business Planning process (IBP)/S&OP process
  • Manage large customer programming elements including pricing, rebates and trade spending, and responsibility for trade spend
  • Serve as omnichannel thought leader with expertise in eCommerce responsible for developing and achieving the short and long-term customer strategies through the application of Newell Brands’ omni capabilities
  • Liaise cross-functionally to improve operational disciplines such as forecasting and supply planning, with a strong understanding of customer distribution network and related metrics
  • Plan transitions of new programs and new SKUs
  • Develop strong customer relationships to enable both customer category and Newell growth
Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of eCommerce support and activation at customers
  • Experience managing and/or influencing others
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets across multiple customers or up to $200M
  • 10+ years of experience working with National Accounts within consumer retail industry
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA Preferred
  • Must be open to travel approximately 20%
  • Knowledge of accounts, market characteristics, competitive environment, growth opportunities, etc.
  • Strong conflict management/composure skills
  • 5+ years of experience working with Walmart
  • Experience with managing a large book of business and large teams of account managers
  • Experience developing and managing budgets
  • Strong negotiation skills and persuasive selling skills
  • Data based selling; experience turning insights into action
  • Excellent time management and people management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Selling experience within consumer products, preferably across multiple brands or product lines
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams
