Job Description

The Key Account Manager will be a driving force in the East to maintain and expand the Kate’s presence in existing and new key accounts. This role will include meticulous account management including, but not limited to; marketing and trade spend management, forecasting, line extension/SKU rationalization, and detailed account analysis driven by turns and annual revenue. This candidate will need to be very detailed oriented and have an entrepreneurial spirit to keep up with our highly motivated team. We all wear a lot of hats here and we are moving at a serious pace, so be prepared to buckle up, because you are in for an exciting ride!


Essential Responsibilities:


Existing Key Accounts:

  • Monitor, maintain, and execute an annual trade spend plan to support consistent key account growth.This task will include promotional planning, trade marketing planning, and merchandising & pricing strategies.
  • Monitor account pricing to ensure that the Kate’s is highly competitive in the relevant retailer category.
  • Attend either virtual or in person review meetings at the given account’s frequency.
  • Maintain a detailed account master document for all key accounts that tracks promotional calendar, trade marketing support, and a lifetime ROI.
  • Analyze key account data (SPINS, IRI, & Key Account and Distributor) to ensure account success and identify and execute on areas of improvement.
  • Create well-crafted sales presentations that are both visually appealing and strategically sound to provide the best representation of the Kate’s brand to key accounts.
  • Support and attend key account events including, but not limited to, trade shows, new store openings, and marketing events.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with key broker partners and key account buyers to ensure strong long-term partnerships.

New Accounts:

  • Develop a thorough understand of the Kate’s brand and syndicate data to be able to pitch the Kate’s brand to any buyer and adapt on the fly to buyer feedback and criticism.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with key broker partners to ensure that we are always aware of and ahead of new key account opportunities.
  • Create well-crafted sales presentations that are both visually appealing and strategically sound to provide the best representation of the Kate’s brand to new key accounts.
  • Run detailed ROI forms to ensure account success and long-term profitability.
  • Identify and communicate market opportunities with the SVP of sales.
  • Attend either virtual or in person review meetings to secure new accounts.
  • Utilize clear, concise, and confident communication to ensure that everyone who is new to the Kate’s brand gets a very positive first impression.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Be a true Kate’s Real Food ambassador and spread with word about our amazing products in all avenues, both in and out of the workspace.
  • Develop an understanding of key brand attributes, certifications, and overall mission.
  • Maintain a clear and concise level of communication with both the VP and SVP of sales.
  • Participate and contribute to weekly and monthly sales meetings.
  • Monitor sales results, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) and hold themselves accountable for achieving targets.


Expectations and Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Distributor and broker management experience: UNFI & KeHE preferred.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, managing, and growing sales.
  • A result driven, energetic, confident personality with excellent communication skills.
  • Key account management experience: 50-300 door Eastern grocery and convenience chains.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and CRM software.
  • Experience creating and analyzing sales/financial data.
  • 3-5 years CPG sales experience including key grocery/convenience account management.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Business or Marketing concentration is preferred.


Travel:Up to 50% in assigned area


Compensation:

  • PTO: 3-weeks annually + 8 annual holidays
  • Compensation package is subject to change based on quarterly evaluations.
  • Mileage: Reimbursed at current IRS reimbursement rate
  • 401k package available (no match)

  • Base annual salary: $80k - $100k


Compensation:
