Position Summary

The Category Advisor will act as Walmart’s category expert by providing best in class category and shopper insights plus actionable go-to-market recommendations. He/she will be responsible for identifying business insights and recommending solutions that drive profitable category growth. He/she will work closely with the Walmart merchant team to develop and grow total category sales by leveraging the data.They will also work cross-functionally within Timex and provide comprehensive category growth strategies. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of category business plans.Must be proficient with Retail Link.

Primary Responsibilities

• Partner with Walmart on shelf space management strategies, shelf space allocation, new item placement, create assortment planning, and SKU rationalization adjacencies
• Generate bi-monthly ad hoc reporting to provide insights, identify opportunities and deliver solutions that drive profitable category growth
• Assist the line review process with shopper insights and data to make recommendations on optimal assortment, plan-o-gram space allocation and flow
• Create, analyze, and deliver sales reports using NPD/IRI (e.g. Circana)
• Act as the subject matter expert for the channel and customer by providing insightful leadership guidance to internal constituents and external customer decision makers
• Understand business drivers to influence joint business plan strategies
• Develop presentations and present to the Walmart merchant team as well as internal Timex management
• Monitor channel shifting and the associated trends reflected in the marketplace

Key Qualifications

• Strong project management, organizational, communication and presentation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Retail Link
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Advanced analytical skills and computer software proficiency (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Experience in category management supporting Walmart
• +5 years of experience working with a consumer goods company (Category Management and/or Shopper Insights preferred)
• Strategic thinking and self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneous
• Strong familiarity with NPD and/or IRI reporting
• Ability to work both on a team as well as individually
• Demonstrated knowledge of category management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success
