The Standard, High Line
Rising above a former elevated train line that has become downtown’s favorite public park, The Standard, High Line is in New York City’s Meatpacking District. Every one of the 338 hotel rooms features a full wall of floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of Manhattan and/or the mighty Hudson River. The hotel’s inviting and scintillating public spaces include a bustling German beer garden at ground level, the rooftop discothèque Le Bain, the legendary Top of The Standard, and an outdoor public plaza with rotating art installations and activations. A neighborhood staple, The Standard Grill is classic New York blending traditional steakhouse with New American cuisine.

Job Purpose:
Assist Director of Sales & Events in leading the Sales team & strategies to maximize revenue across
all market segments. Personally maximize sales revenue for Corporate, Entertainment & Consortia segments, as well as Events. Achieve & maintain departmental KPIs, tracking systems, databases, and reports. Represent the sales department both internally and externally in a professional manner in accordance with company standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary;
- Manage RFP submissions and tracking (including coordinating rate loading with the revenue department) for the Sales department;
- Report on a monthly basis plan/goal as directed by Sales Director;
- Meet required individual sales goals;
- Assist with the development of the annual budget and development sales and marketing plan;
- Assist with overseeing sales strategies for the department;
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards;
- Proactively solicit existing and new clients from designated market segments;
- Conduct sales trips, attend tradeshows, site inspections, client entertainment, and FAMs as required;
- Follow up on the progress of booked business and key account performance;
- Maintain positive guest and client relations at all times;
- Mentor and train Sales Managers, Event Managers, and coordinators to achieve goals, and KPIs and follow sales processes;
- Participate in sales meetings and industry-related organizations to represent the company; Where necessary, handle group RFPs & transient reservation requests;
- Work with Guest Experience Teams to manage the Sales VIP program;
- Assist in developing and executing the team’s projects to increase sales activity, volume, and profit;
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English;
- 6+ years of hotel sales experience required;
- College degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field preferred;
- Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor;
- Team leadership & management experience preferred;
- Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high level of attention to detail;
- Ability to enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point-of-sale systems;
- Knowledge of software such as; Microsoft Office, Opera, Lanyon, Cvent, Agency360, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system required;
- Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
Physical Requirements:
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 lb. without assistance.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
