Job Description

As the Advocacy Program Director you will supervise and supporte, in accordance with the Iowa Aftercare Services Network grant, all YSS Aftercare Self-Sufficiency Advocates (SSA’s) that work with youth who have aged out of the foster care system. You will also supervise the Post-Secondary Education Retention Program (PSERP) Manager. The Advocacy Program Director’s primary function is to directly supervise all YSS SSA’s and to provide consistent Aftercare program compliance oversight for the entire agency. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Travelling to each YSS location that operates an Aftercare Program at least twice a month.
  • Utilizing assessments, trainings, QA/QI data/process to improve programmatic outcomes
  • Supervising and meeting in person with all SSAs and the PSERP Program Youth Advocate monthly
  • Approving all vendor payments and check requests for the Aftercare Program.
  • Understanding and adhering to accreditation standards, agency policy, and licensing requirements.

Required Education, Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, education, or human services
  • Experience with customer and personal service
  • Six years of related experience, four of which must be supervisory
  • Proven ability to prioritize and managing numerous, silumtaneous projects and processes, often under tight deadlines
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
