Job Description

The Youth Arts Initiative Program Manager works with the Youth Arts Initiative Director within Clubs and the local community, works as a paid professional teaching artist, and assists in managing YAI programming at the designated Club sites.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Education & experience qualifications include: At least a Bachelor’s, Master’s degree preferred in Fine or Media Arts, Humanities, Education or Arts Education, Social Work, Non- Profit Management, Business or a related degree; at least one degree must be in a arts related field. At least 3 years of experience in art education or youth development, or as a professional working artist (with CV of experience required)
  • Assist in managing YAI program budgets, which includes, but is not limited to: renovation of art/studio spaces, purchase of equipment, supplies, experiential learning experiences, culminating events, evaluation services, and training/PD
  • Assist in the development of curriculum, lesson plans, and other program tools; work with arts staff to create these tools; determine benchmarks related to culminating final work products and output for youth and staff
  • Ability to work as a program generalist within a broad art discipline (either Visual, Applied or Performing Arts); also ability to be a program specialist with a specific art form
  • Manage YAI program attendance tracking for all YAI programs and designated Club sites
  • Create policies and procedures specific to the Youth Arts Initiative Program, including but not limited to: youth attendance, code of conduct, participation requirements; procedures should align with DOE daycare licensing regulations
  • Assist in overseeing work output of YAI paid professional working arts and other contracted staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Assist with grant management of arts related grant funds, including but not limited to: meeting grant deliverables, evaluation, progress monitoring, audit preparation, site visits and communicating and reporting to donors
  • Lead high profile, culminating events that showcase participant artwork, or assist youth in the participation of local events/festivals
  • Working with the Youth Arts Initiative Director, create and set standards for benchmarking for quality, and ongoing program evaluation, which includes meeting the program’s success/evaluations metrics as outlined in YAI grant (and additional grants as applicable); review and analyze program data for continuous program improvement

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to move quickly to keep up with youth Must be able to remain alert and energetic for 8 hours or more
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment
  • Must be able to sit and work on a computer for up to 8 hours a day
