Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund are two national organizations that work towards environmental protection, justice, and public health. Clean Water Action, a grassroots environmental organization, advocates for strong environmental laws, addresses local environmental issues, and safeguards public health. Clean Water Fund, a research and education organization, promotes justice and public interest related to water, waste, clean energy, and toxins. Both organizations aim to ensure that communities most affected by environmental degradation have a voice and access to resources for clean energy and justice. Their work also involves advancing energy policies that significantly reduce climate pollution in Massachusetts and creating an equitable energy system that reduces carbon emissions and gives frontline communities a voice and resources to participate in the clean energy economy and adapt to climate change.

Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund seek a full-time Program Manager for our Boston office, responsible for leading the organization's youth programming. You will adapt and implement the YAC Curriculum to create a customized after school program, fostering environmental knowledge and professional organizing skills, and encouraging youth to address local environmental issues. Collaboration with partner schools' teachers will be essential for recruiting YAC participants. Additionally, you will support and guide youth organizers in implementing a Youth Participatory Action Research Project and manage the college internship program. Grant applications for youth programs will also fall under your direction from MA State Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Support youth organizers to design and implement a Youth Participatory Action Research Project that addresses a local environmental concern.
  • Assist in developing Clean Water alum program.
  • Own and execute grant applications pertaining to youth programs under direction of MA State Directors.
  • Manage college internship program.
  • Recruit YAC participants in partnership with teachers at partners schools
  • Adapt and implement Clean Water Fund’s YAC Curriculum to create a tailored after school program that builds environmental knowledge and key professional organizing skills and provides opportunities for youth to act on local environmental issues.
Qualifications
  • The final offer is subject to meeting state and national criminal history requirements, as defined for Massachusetts public schools.
  • Adaptability and ability to learn on the job.
  • Multilingual and BIPOC candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Clean Water’s mission and values including demonstrated leadership on economic and racial justice issues.
  • Experience with grant fundraising
  • Well organized and able to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with youth engagement work
  • Experience with community organizing and/or policy advocacy in Massachusetts.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ organizing experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills including cultural competency in working with people from various economic, racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
