JOB SUMMARY

Provides administrative and clerical support for the Indigent Defense Program. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.

• Enter all data for felony and misdemeanor appointments and maintain database and correct information when necessary.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned projects.
• 3 years of job related experience.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Interviews defendants while in jail to determine financial status for indigent defense appointments and collecting information for magistrate to assist in setting bond.
• Prepares magistrate and financial packets for indigent defense qualifications; collect data from Sheriff’s Office for packets.
• Responsible for data collection, data entry and validation of data concerning the Indigent Defense Program.
• Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 45 WPM).
• Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
• Assists with filing paperwork, making copies, answering telephone.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
• Assists with making indigent defense appointments on felony and misdemeanor cases; Assist with making defense attorney appointments when approved by Judge.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays when needed.

SALARY RANGE $17.25 - $21.57 hourly based on qualifications
