Job Description

Job Title: VP of Strategy


Company Overview:

We are preparing for retail expansion and an Amazon launch so are looking to build out the leadership team to drive those efforts. The VP of Strategy will directly report to the CEO and have the opportunity to move into a P&L responsibility.


About the Brand: We have grown 3-4x YoY and are profitable, with expectations that the company will continue to scale at this pace.


Position Overview:

As the Vice President of Strategy, you will be a key driver of our company's growth and strategic direction. The ideal candidate has run and has deep knowledge of not only first time brand retail launch but also experience launching on marketplaces (e.g. Amazon). This role will start with no direct reports but will be responsible for the success of retail and marketplace launches.


The role can expand to own a range of responsibilities including brand, product, and international expansion depending on the candidate. The ideal candidate will have D2C experience at a brand that has scaled from $10m to over $100m in revenue.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for growth, product innovation, and market expansion.
  • Growth and Scaling: Lead the company's rapid growth initiatives, continuing our 4x Year-over-Year (YOY) growth and targeting even hire numbers as we continue to grow, while maintaining high-quality standards. Identify and pursue new market opportunities, both domestically and internationally, to drive revenue and market share.
  • Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to the executive team, offering insights and data-driven solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Product Diversification: Help oversee the diversification of our product portfolio, ensuring it aligns with customer needs and market trends. Drive innovation, product development, and differentiation to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with our long-term vision, business goals, and market trends.
  • Retail and Amazon Expansion: Develop and execute strategies for expanding our presence in retail channels and Amazon. Identify and build relationships with key partners, negotiate contracts, and manage distribution and merchandising strategies.
  • Financial Management: Collaborate with the CFO to establish financial targets, manage budgets, and ensure financial sustainability. Analyze key financial metrics and market trends to make informed business decisions.
  • Drive the development of business models, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans for new product launches and market entries.
  • Brand Building and Marketing: Work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute brand-building strategies, driving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. Leverage data and market insights to optimize marketing campaigns and enhance brand positioning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, stakeholders, and industry influencers to support business growth and expansion initiatives.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Help build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to drive individual and team growth.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes to drive continuous innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence, ensuring efficient and scalable processes across the organization.


Qualifications:

  • D2C experience is required.
  • Experience with Retail + Amazon launches is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Proven experience in a strategic leadership role, driving growth and scaling initiatives within a fast-paced, consumer-focused company.
  • Consulting background strongly preferred (e.g. Bain, Mckinsey, Deloitte)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a track record of taking initiative, embracing challenges, and driving innovation.
