The VP of Accounting, NA Controller will be a key member of the North American Finance and Accounting organization and r esponsible for development and leadership of the North American Accounting & Controlling organization, processes, and systems. Responsible for oversight of all accounting and controlling functions and daily operations of the North America Region (including US, Canada, Mexico, and South America). Ensure accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles and Company policy. The VP, NA Controller will leading a team of direct team of 5 and will report directly to the SVP Finance, NA CFO.


Principal Duties And Responsibilities


  • Transform de-centralized accounting groups that are spread across multiple locations and organizations within North America and are not utilizing fully standard processes into one centrally led organization with standardized, well-controlled processes enabled by the SAP Finance First implementation. Coordinate and drive excellence into all elements of People, Processes, and Systems.
  • Ultimately responsible for the safe keeping and maintenance of the NA Region’s assets through balance sheet integrity and a proper control environment.
  • Lead transformation efforts across multiple groups to establish a centralized, efficient, and compliant accounting close and controlling process that is consistent with global standard approaches. Utilize effective communication and change management tools to centralize accounting and controlling processes across all BUs in North America region.
  • Ensure organization serves at all levels in business partnership with forecasting and budgeting functions, BU Finance, BU commercial and operational leadership, Corporate Finance & Accounting, Internal Audit, Tax, Treasury, Legal, and other functional leaders.
  • Prepare NA Accounting Organization for excellent implementation of SAP Finance First.
  • Drive strengthened communication throughout organization of variances and other key issues to FP&A and other appropriate personnel.
  • Provide Organizational leadership, development, and supervision to the North America Regional accounting leaders with indirect oversight of 35 regional accounting professionals.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvement initiatives to strengthen effectiveness and efficiency; initiate open and continuous dialogue with Region and Corporate functional partners to drive improvement.
  • Oversee a SOX- compliant control environment for the North America region and drive change as necessary. Provide direction on implementation or changes to legal entity controls. Accountable for proper procedures, policies and controls being in place in order to maintain strong internal controls and improve the excellence and stability of the controls environment over time; ensure continuous education of regional accounting personnel to ensure compliance with these requirements.
  • Ensure technically qualified personnel are placed in all NA Accounting positions. Employ sound talent and performance management practices to lead, develop and train team of high-performing accounting professionals with a spirit of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with Internal and External auditors on all requests.


Desired Education And Experience


  • Deep experience in all facets of financial controls, technical accounting, and financial reporting is required.
  • CPA Certified
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or accounting or other related discipline is required. Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration, preferred.
  • Experience in a global division of a publicly traded company, a plus.
  • At least 10 years’ experience as a controller within a manufacturing company and management of a regional accounting team are expected.
  • Highly experienced with SAP (both operations and design/implementation).

  • Travel required: 10-15% ongoing (up to 30% in first year)
  • Ideally has experience both in world-class companies driving standard processes and systems, and in less-mature companies with limited resources in a state of transformation to a more mature model.
