The ideal candidate will be an experienced trainer or instructional designer, a beloved people manager, and an unflappable project manager, all in equal measure. We are looking for someone used to examining business problems, making analysis and design decisions quickly, and delegating production to content development professionals. This role will be expected to 1) stay engaged and available to their team, 2) stay ahead of upcoming projects, and 3) stay on top of deadlines, taking ultimate responsibility for getting training deliverables across the finish line. Management experience in learning & development or media production is required.
Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Serve as a credible and effective manager to a team of 3-5 direct reports.

- Mentor team members in the fields of facilitation, classroom management, content writing, and instructional design.
- Complete required administrative responsibilities associated with managing a team, including quarterly review cycles, performance discussions, award nominations, etc.

- Project-Managing Training Production:
- Participate in product kick-offs, launches, or update meetings to maintain real-time awareness of current and upcoming training needs
- Scope training requirements and assign resources to each project as necessary.
- Manage staff workload and delegate work assignments to ensure production deadlines are met.
- Deliver production forecasts for current and upcoming deliverables.
- Maintain up-to-date status reporting on all projects currently in production.
- Flag or escalate issues or roadblocks that might put production deadlines at risk.
- Maintain communications and reporting with internal (peer) and external stakeholders.
- Measure and report on session attendance and assessment scores using Skilljar LMS.

- Facilitate certain instructor-led trainings as needed, remote-first with the possibility of very occasional travel.
- Produce informative, clean, and visually appealing Powerpoint slides to support program reporting, training initiatives, courses, conferences, etc.
- Consult with internal stakeholders on possible instructional design approaches to solve identified training needs.

Basic Qualifications:
- Five or more years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- High quality standards: A discerning eye for what constitutes quality content, and a track record of delivering unexpected, exciting, and effective training approaches.
- Speed & Agility: the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple workstreams on changing timelines, switch focus quickly, and remain adaptable to the needs of the moment.
- Project Management: the ability to manage, capture and convey the status of all stages of the production process, including forecasting, asset development, launch and comms. This also includes managing to deadlines and keeping the discipline to use tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Excel, or other equivalent software to systematize production inputs and reporting.
- People management and Coaching: the ability to inspire individual contributors to produce top quality work in a supportive team environment, maximize team members’ contributions based on their skills, and coach and develop the team to develop their craft in writing, instructional design, or facilitation.
- Editing skill: the ability to give feedback on the work of others so that the end product is accurate, clearer, more concise, and more engaging.
- Inquiry & Investigation: the ability to seek out the correct information, get to the bottom of pending questions, double-check initial assumptions, and other journalistic habits.
- Writing skill: the ability to craft the right words and phrases into content that is concise, grammatically correct, in a distinct voice, and at the right flow. This trait also includes openness and responsiveness to feedback and editing.
- Comfort and skill with presentations and reports: the ability to speak to an audience in formal and informal sessions, especially to report on progress to stakeholders. This also includes competency in tools such as Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint to produce and polish decks and reports.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Portfolio of instructional design work or e-learning samples will be requested of candidates that advance past initial screening.
- 2+ years of instructor led training or facilitation experience.
- 2+ years e-learning development experience in Articulate Storyline 360.
- 6+ years of relevant work experience in content management, instructional design, media production, or training.
- 3+ years management of direct reports in a learning and development setting.
- Excellent communication, writing & design thinking skills Advanced proficiency in MS PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment.
- Intermediate-advanced visual design skills. Graphic design experience a plus..
- High on execution and proactive in seeking out feedback.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role.
